Sanchez starts the Villa exodus

Carlos Sanchez has begun the expected exodus at Aston Villa this summer by completing a permanent move to Fiorentina.

Villa manager Steve Bruce confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the Columbian International had a clause in his loan deal that would see him join up with the Viola this summer.

The clause is believed to be based on appearances he made for the Italian side and with him making Carlos Sanchez joins Fiorentina on a permanent deal.24 (at the time of writing) appearances it triggers a clause allowing them to buy the 31-year-old.

Sanchez, nicknamed the Rock in his home country, cost Aston Villa a reported £5.1million (according to Transfermarkt) from Elche in 2014 and played 48 times for the Villans. You can probably put a bet on at Winner Sports that we won’t recoup much of that. I’d expect something in the region of around £1-2million but at least we will get the player who never really settled at Villa Park off the wage bill.

Libor Kozak

Steve Bruce also confirmed today that striker Libor Kozak has also left the club.

The 27-year-old Czech Republic striker was signed from Lazio in 2013 for a fee believed to be in the region of £5.5million.

His Villa career hit hard times through injury when he broke his leg in a training ground incident with former Villa defender Ciaran Clark back in January 2014.

The 6ft 3 striker scored just 4 goals in 22 appearances for Villa and will leave on a free transfer as his deal ends next month.

I had a feeling he had already left the club because he has been posting a lot of holiday snaps on his Instagram recently and today the Villa manager confirmed it.

Exodus

With two already on their way, I wonder who will be next on the list to leave Villa?

Carles Gil, Jordan Veretout, Pierluigi Gollini and Aly Cissokho are all out on loan at the minute and all made noises about leaving the Championship Club.

Atalanta and St Etienne are rumoured to want to make the Gollini and Veretout loan deals permanent but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Carles Gil has made it clear that he would be open to a permanent move to Deportivo but recent reports suggest the cash-strapped Spanish club may struggle to make any move a permanent one.

The futures of other loan stars like Ross McCormack and Aaron Tshibola are also yet to be decided.
