avstu 270
Unexpected downtime Between Sunday at 8pm and Tuesday morning 2am the website was put into ‘suspension mode’ due to a suspected hacking attempt. We are back up and running, hopefully as normal now but I would advise you all clear your cache and history on your browsers. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Larry-AV 125
22/09/2020 : Thanks for your efforts in getting the Site back up, Stu. As you can see from this post, I have finally been able to log back in (after all the earlier hassles). 1 Quote AVFC RFC SAFC
Larry-AV 125
23/09/2020 01:42 : I do not know WTF is going on, but I closed Firefox with me logged into AVF yesterday and I opened FF to visit AVF again just now. AVF came up but with me NOT logged in and I could not get back in either. I then messaged Stu on Twitter about this. Rather than leave things there, I decided to try to log in again. This time I had the same rejection but then went to the 'Contact Us' page and sent the message - I cannot log in' - and then I find my login has been accepted. I will log out of FF with me logged into AVF ... and see what happens when I return later today. Edited September 23, 2020 by Larry-AV Formatting. Larry-AV 125
Moved AVFC (test) Test : AVFC retest : AVFC Test : AVFC Test again : AVFC ... and again : AVFC Checking. 21/10/2020 : The 'AVFC' items I added after my original posting on 23/09/2020 showed the control characters as text, until I updated this post today, where they have worked. Larry-AV 125
23/09/2020 23:00 : Once again having left AVF whilst logged in and then closed FF, on opening FF and returning to AVF I have had to go through the rigmarole of logging in, getting rejected (twice) then going to the Forum Community Page, where I find I am logged in. The URL on my Bookmark for AVF is identical to the URL shown in the Forum, but instead of opening the Forum with me logged in, something (wtf what?) is redirecting my login URL to the AVF main page with me logged out. It has been doing this since AVF returned following the hack attack and therefore precedes the upgrades being made today. Even so, the main page should show me logged in, but it does not. This shows a communication breakdown between the Forum URL and the other AVF URLs. This is the sequence of events from my History preceding this Post, with the URLs shown within brackets [ ] : 01 : [http://www.avillafan.com/forum/index.php?] - I am logged into AVF and use my Bookmark to open AVF. 02 : [http://www.avillafan.com/forum/index.php?_fromLogin=1] - But it goes here instead, showing me not logged in. 03 : [http://www.avillafan.com/forum/index.php?/login/] - This is the 'Sorry you do not have permission' page. 04 : [http://www.avillafan.com/forum/index.php?/login/&_fromLogin=1] - Sent message from this page. 05 : [http://www.avillafan.com/forum/index.php?/contact/] - Sent message from this page too. 06 : [http://www.avillafan.com/forum/index.php?/] - Back to where I started, this time showing me logged in. 07 : [http://www.avillafan.com/forum/index.php?/forum/2-feedback-announcements-support/] - This thread. Larry-AV 125
23/09/2020 23:44 : I might have solved it ... There was a forward slash missing from the end of my Bookmark. I therefore added one as a suffix and this time AVF has opened showing me logged in. 23/09/2020 23:50 : I was about to post an update to my previous post this when this happened : 503 Service Unavailable The server is temporarily busy, try again later! Try again ! : I noticed that a forward slash was missing from my Bookmark, so I added one. After doing that I left AVF (with me logged in) and then opened my Bookmark. This time it went straight to the AVF Forum, showing me logged in. Investigations solve problems. Quote AVFC RFC SAFC

Larry-AV 125
24/09/2020 15:00 : New FF session and I return to AVF, which I left yesterday logged in. First stage, use my Bookmark to open the AVF Forum : 01 : [http://www.avillafan.com/forum/index.php?/] - My Bookmark for the AVF Forum - the URLs are identical. But instead of going to the Forum, it redirected to here : 02 : [http://www.avillafan.com/forum/index.php?/login/] - Showing me NOT logged in, so I logged in (twice) ... Next it went here (again) ... 03 : [http://www.avillafan.com/forum/index.php?/login/&_fromLogin=1] - 'You do not have permission' blah blah blah At this point a notification from Stu appeared ... these can only appear if you are logged in. I clicked on Stu's notification and was taken to the Match thread ... where it showed me logged in too. 04 : [http://www.avillafan.com/forum/index.php?/topic/17894-lc-bristol-city-v-aston-villa/&tab=comments#comment-399649] So despite correcting the minor mismatch between my Bookmark URL (missing forward slash suffix) and the AVF Forum URL yesterday, AVF is still not taking me straight to the Forum when I open a new session in FF. It does return to the Forum (showing me logged in) if I leave it and return later during the session. I do not have this problem with other Forums where I stay logged in, neither with a new session nor within a session. So, we are back to where we started. There is something redirecting my Bookmark login from its target to the login page, even though I am already logged in to AVF. Quote AVFC RFC SAFC
