I haven't a clue about FFP restraints, other than they exist, I have read that we've issued £30 million worth of shares to help cash flow and while I can't claim to understand the detail of that it sounds like a way of remaining within FFP as Sawiris and Edens can't just bankroll us.

Your case for Butland from a purely footballing perspective makes perfect sense, I'm just saying that we have a budget to operate within and have to worry about now as well as the future.

Absolutely,  but to be honest I'd be just as happy to give Steer/Kalinic the chance rather than sign a player with no sell on value.

I reference the age/value as PURSLOW has stated we are looking to develop players who we can, then if we have to sell on for a profit.

Too much change can be a problem but we released players that were not always first choice in the championship and 4 of our first choice outfield players were on loan, we need to make more signings th

I think a lot of deals are all depending on holidays. Agents can only do so much without the players.

Agreed Elmo and Taylor will certainly Imo stay this season and I believe that at the end of the season they are then out of contract and they can then be released. To big a job to completely over

Brentford defender Ezri Konsa is undergoing a medical at Aston Villa as he finalises a £10million-plus transfer, Football Insider understands.

Football Insider revealed earlier today that the newly-promoted Premier League club were in advanced talks to sign centre-back Konsa in the coming days.

Good keeper,  but Imo we should be signing Butland.

Butland is 26, Heaton 33.

I have no issue with the price Stoke have quoted (20-25 million), giving us a goalkeeper for possibly the next 10 years.

I've seen 7 million quoted for Heaton and in 2-3 years we'll be looking for another goalkeeper, makes no sense.

So far it's all papertalk, so we will see what happens,  but I feel we will have missed a trick if we don't snap up Butland.

I have to agree. £25m for Butland is value for money imo. Hope he doesnt become the one that got away.

I dont know much about him apart from knowing he is rated highly. I do question the lack of experience in the squad.

I can't help feeling that James Chester's days are numbered.

His knees are done. Club dont how he will get on this season.

That's my concern, who is partnering Mings?,  Mings is not exactly premier league tried and tested, spent most of his time crocked.

I like the Cahill talk, but in the same Percy piece he says this has stalled, due to his wage demands.

I'm sure Dean has got a plan,

Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Ezri Konsa from Brentford for an undisclosed fee.

The defender links up with former boss Dean Smith following an impressive campaign for the Bees last term.

After coming through the youth ranks at Charlton Athletic, 21-year-old Konsa was part of the England squad at the recent European U21 Championships in Italy.

He was also a member of the England squad that won the U20 World Cup in 2017.

Aston Villa have convinced Kasimpasa to sell Egyptian international winger Trezeguet, according to reports.

The 24-year-old is a man in demand this summer after telling his current club that he wishes to depart.

Trezeguet put in a series of eye-catching performances during his country's disappointing run at the African Cup of Nations.

Apparently 11 euro offer accepted, Villa only team at present to have actually made an offer.
