  1. I'm away now ! ... Swansea have scored again .... but I'm off.
  2. Gabby's fourth goal of the Season (22nd minute) ... I had just logged out and he scores !
  3. 1-0 to Swansea (Bony) after 9 minutes, the defence was asleep, per SSN !
  4. If we do not go out to win the game, by attacking and trying to score goals, then we will not deserve anything from the game. Better to try and fail than to not try at all !
  5. Here's the context, now that all the Easter EPL games have been played. EPL Table, teams from 8th to 20th as at 21/04/2014 & Next matches 26-27-28/04/2014 : 08 Southampton 35 +5 49 : H Everton 09 Newcastle United 35 -15 46 : A Arsenal (28th) 10 Stoke City 35 -10 44 : H Tottenham 11 Crystal Palace 35 -13 43 : H Man City (27th) 12 West Ham United 35 -10 37 : A W B Albion 13 Swansea City 35 -4 36 : H Aston Villa 14 Hull City 34 -9 36 : A Fulham 15 Aston Villa
  6. Prediction : Swansea City 2-2 Aston Villa ... probably a one in 6 chance of this happening. So far I have amassed 30 points from predicting AVFCs' scores - that is 6 games (at 5 points each) out of 36 EPL and Cup games this Season !
  7. I will have to wait for MOTD the see the 'highlights' (if any). To answer the question about losing 4 consecutive games, the defeat today replicates the last time it happened. This updates what I posted after the loss to Mr Magoo's Fulham side : Dec 08 SUN A 15 Fulham 0-2 L Dec 15 SUN H 16 Man United 0-3 L Dec 21 SAT A 17 Stoke City 1-2 L Dec 26 Thu H 18 Cryst Palace 0-1 L Mar 23 SUN H 30 Stoke City 1-4 L Mar 29 SAT A 31 Man United 1-4 L Apr 05 SAT
  8. From the SSN article I have just posted about Benteke's achilles operation : In better news for Villa, striker Gabby Agbonlahor and midfielders Fabian Delph and Karim El Ahmadi should all be fit to face Crystal Palace on Saturday having missed the 2-1 loss at home to Fulham last weekend. "They all trained this week and they're all fine," revealed Lambert.
  9. Here is the context, the maximum range is 11th to 17th : EPL Table, teams from 9th to 20th as at 07/04/2014 & Next Matches, 12-13/04/2014 : 09 Newcastle... 33 -13 46 : A Stoke City 10 Stoke City.. 33 -11 40 : H Newcastle 11 West Ham.... 33 -7 37 : X No Game 12 Hull City... 33 -6 36 : X No Game (FA Cup v Sheff Utd) 13 Aston Villa. 32 -13 34 : A C Palace ... KO 15:07 hours. 14 C Palace.... 32 -16 34 : H Aston Villa 15 Swansea City 33 -4 33 : H Chelsea (13th) 16 W B Albion.. 32 -11
  10. Beat me to it regarding Helenius, but I'll post this anyway. AVFC - Trio expected back for Palace/Helenius trains this week It was a strain of his thigh abductor muscle that sidelined Helenius. Fabian Delph, Gabby Agbonlahor and Karim El Ahmadi.
  11. Prediction League (don't laugh) : C Palace 1-1 Aston Villa
  12. Did they include : "Cheat! Cheat! Cheat!" for Christiano RONDALDO, B6 ?
  13. I gave this one a miss, like I gave the Albion game a miss ... and AVFC score 4 goals at Home ... so blame me for the Home form, not Mr Lambert ... or the players ... or Lerner ... or the Tea Lady ... I confess, it is all my fault ! This is the first win at Home on a Sunday for 13 months : Season 2012-2013 : Feb 10 SUN H 26 West Ham. 2-1 W Season 2013-2014 : Mar 02 SUN H 28 Norwich C 4-1 W Anyway, Well Done to the lads, what needed to be done, was done.
  14. These are the international friendlies to be played next week : ... assuming anyone is interested ! : Wednesday 5th March 2014 England 1-0 Denmark Poland 0-1 Scotland Wales 3-1 Iceland Cyprus 0-0 Northern Ireland Ireland (ROI) 1-2 Serbia Belgium 2-2 Ivory Coast - will Benteke play a 'blinder' ? - He did not score I shall update the scores in this Post. - Updated
  15. I wonder if Lerner knows what Charlie Aitken said (years ago now) : "I have played in front of 12,000 people in the First Division and 30,000 in the Third." ? ... and is 'hoping for the best' ??? P.S. My first Villa match was Aston Villa 2-0 Preston North End in September 1970.
  16. Has Benteke forgotten about the World Cup ? ... Or has he been having words with Lukaku again ? ... Or has he given up on going to the World Cup ? ... Or has he been told he WILL (barring injury) be going to the World Cup and ... ... consequently is nonchalant about his play and/or wants to avoid injuries ???
  17. Don't laugh, but I have predicted : Aston Villa 3-1 Norwich City Hopefully this game will see a double improvement, in our Home form and in our Sunday form. It damn well needs to !!!
  18. The game is at Villa Park ! ... update the OP ! Here's the context, the range is 10th to 16th, but only because WBA have no game. EPL Table, teams from 9th to 20th as at 23/02/2014 & Next Matches, 01-02/03/2014 : 09 Southampton. 27 +6 39 : H Liverpool 10 West Ham.... 27 -3 31 : A Everton 11 Hull City... 27 -2 30 : H Newcastle 12 Swansea City 27 -4 28 : H C Palace ... (2nd) 13 Aston Villa. 27 -10 28 : H Norwich City (2nd) ... KO 16:30 hours. 14 Norwich City 27 -19 28 : A Aston Villa .(2nd) 15
  19. Damn annoying to lose to a last minute goal, although I accept Newcastle had missed two earlier opportunities. From what I have read here it sounds like a repeat of the Everton game - playing for a draw ... ... am I right ? If this is the 'gameplan' then it is not working ... and will not work. Better to try and fail than not try at all !!! This points to a meltdown in tactics, whereby the Home form is not improved and the previously good Away form is lost.
  20. I had not noticed how bad our Sunday record has been until today, B6. Having noticed it, there was no point in not sharing the info. As to why the record is so bad, I have no idea ... does Lerner, or Lambert, or the players ?
  21. Here's another ugly statistic. AVFC have played 4 games on a Sunday, 2 Home, 2 Away ... and LOST all 4 !!! There are 4 more Sunday games to play, 3 at Home and 1 Away and ... ... SKY have not finished with shunting fixtures and ... ... the last two games of the Season are on Sundays and ... ... AVFC have not scored a goal on a Sunday either ! Season 2013-2014 Oct 20 SUN H 08 Tottenham 0-2 L Dec 08 SUN A 15 Fulham 0-2 L Dec 15 SUN H 16 Man United 0-3 L Feb 23 SUN A 27 Newcastle 0-1
  22. Now the EPL games today have been played, we cannot drop lower than 13th even if we lose at Newcastle, unless Norwich win by a cricket score at Home to Tottenham ! EPL Table, teams from 9th to 20th as at 22/02/2014 : 09 Newcastle United 26 11 4 11 32 38 -6 37 * 10 West Ham United 27 8 7 12 31 34 -3 31 11 Hull City 27 8 6 13 29 31 -2 30 12 Swansea City 26 7 7 12 33 36 -3 28 * 13 Aston Villa 26 7 7 12 27 36
  23. The game is at St James' Park. My prediction is Newcastle 2-2 Aston Villa ... I doubt if NUFC will lose 5 consecutive home games. EPL Table, teams from 9th to 20th as at 12/02/2014 & Next Matches, 22-23/02/2014 : 09 Newcastle... 26 -6 37 : H Aston Villa (23rd) 10 Swansea City 26 -3 28 : A Liverpool (23rd) 11 West Ham.... 26 -5 28 : H Southampton 12 Aston Villa. 26 -9 28 : A Newcastle (23rd) ... KO 13:30 hours. 13 Hull City... 26 -6 27 : A Cardiff City 14 Stoke City.. 26 -14 27 : A Man City 1
  24. Just a thought. If the form was reversed, i.e., our Away record was the Home record and vice-versa, with the same points and EPL position as we have now, would there be as much criticism of Lambert, the team and tactics as there currently is ?
  25. Release valve or not, this talk of going into the 'Championship', in reality Division TWO, is defeatist nonsense. Just think it through. Get relegated to Division Two, then win it and get promoted to Division One (EPL). Then what ? ... get relegated again, to get promoted again ? ... become a Yo-Yo Club ??? If that was to happen we might just as well go Boing Boing !!! Aston Villa is and always will be a Level ONE Club. Anything less than that is not acceptable !!!
