If you had offered me a point before the game against Arsenal, I would have taken it in an absolute heartbeat. When Villa signed the injury prone, out of favour defender Tyrone Mings on loan in January, no-one could have foreseen the impact he would have. He has been a fantastic addition to Dean Smith’s squad as he helps us get promoted. The 26-year-old came straight into the starting line-up and was an instant success. Jed Steer has been rewarded for his efforts in helping Villa’s return to the Premiership with a new contract. The goalkeeper saved two penalties in the Playoff Semi-final against West Brom has signed a four-year deal until 2023. Stere is one of four goalkeepers in the first team at Villa Park. It appears that the shackles are finally off, following years of decline under previous ownership. It was a tough time, watching on as our beloved club slipped out of the Premier League’s tender grasp and into the jaws of the Championship. It is almost 72 hours since Aston Villa won arguably the biggest game of their recent history.
