It is no secret that the Premier League believe they have the best product in modern-day football. At the same time, UEFA would argue that they do so with their European competitions, particularly the Champions League. The problem is, I am starting to wonder if the Premier League’s stubbornness is having a knock-on effect on their product. We went into yesterday’s fixture with Manchester United having played Bayern Munich on Wednesday night and the visitors played Porto in Portugal on Thursday. I felt the time frame for both clubs was fair (Yes I know we had one extra day but…

As the game got closer, the excitement rose amongst Villa fans. Pubs were packed by 5 pm and although most jokingly predicted a win, most would have accepted not being on the end of a big defeat. You don’t need me to tell you that Bayern are one of Europe’s elite. They have won the competition 6 times and went into the game undefeated. I like thousands of others chose to go to the ground…

This is what we all wanted. Villa wanted to join the big boy’s party again, meaning we needed to learn to juggle various games in a short period. We managed it in a lesser competition last year, now we have a completely new challenge. Anyway, enough of that. Back to focus. Yesterday’s opponents were Ipswich…

It has been a very up-and-down week for Aston Villa. Yesterday’s victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers rounded off a week, during which Villa won all three of their games, including their long-awaited return to the Champions League. We also said goodbye to a Villa legend, Gary Shaw, who sadly died on Monday following a fall. RIP Gary. Thoughts go to his family and friends. Villa welcomed Wolves to Villa Park hoping to continue their good start to the season. Wolves have failed to win a game so far this season in the Premier League and let’s be honest, they turn into…
