Samuel Iling Jr has returned to Serie A on loan with Champions League side, Bologna.
The 20-year-old joined Aston Villa for a reported £11 million earlier this summer from Juventus, where he won the Coppa Italia. The Islington-born winger came through the Chelsea academy before moving to Turin in 2020. He was promoted to the Juventus first team in 2022 where he went on to make 45 appearances in all competitions.
Although he was part of Villa’s pre-season, Unai Emery and the management team feel his development will be best served playing first-team football, something he may not have got at Villa Park.
Bologna do not have a buy option on the player as Villa see him as an important part of their future.
