Aston Villa have been drawn to face Lille in the Europa Conference League quarter-finals following their 4-0 victory over Ajax on Thursday night.
The winners of the two-legged tie will then face the winners of the Olympiakos and Fenerbahce game in the semi-final.
Aston Villa will be at home in the first leg which will take place on Thursday 11th April with a 8 pm kick-off.
The second leg will take place the following week on the 18th of April with a 5.45 pm kick-off.
Quarter-final draw
Club Brugge vs PAOK
Olympiakos vs Fenerbahce
Aston Villa vs Lille
Viktoria Plzen vs Fiorentina
The route to the final could have been easier for Villa and I would have preferred the home legs to be the second legs but if Villa want to win the competition, it doesn’t matter how the games are drawn or who the opponents are.
Unai Emery will have to find a way of balancing the remainder of the Premier League with the Champions League still on the radar and the Conference League but this is the position both the club and supporters would have wanted to be in.
Villa fans will now scramble to find the cheapest routes to the Hauts-de-France. Lille is the capital of the region in northern France with a population of just over 232,000. It is a cultural hub and is known for being a bustling university city.
