Aston Villa women have announced the deadline day signing of Miri Taylor on a short loan until the end of the season from Liverpool.
The 23-year-old midfielder started her youth career at Chelsea making her senior debut in 2016 at 16 years old before moving to Arsenal for a year. She then travelled to America to go to college where she played college football for Hofstra Pride from 2018-2021. In her final year of college, she won multiple awards including being part of the United Soccer Coaches All-America first team and being named CAA Attacking Player of the Year. As well as being a MAC Herman semi-finalist.
After her college career, she signed for Angel City in the NWSL for the 2022 season where she made just 11 appearances for the club. She then signed for Liverpool in 2023 where she has made 12 appearances scoring 1 goal in the WSL before falling out of favour under coach Matt Beard.
This signing comes after Villa announced that young midfielder Laura Blindkilde-Brown left the club to join Manchester City after they put in a bid that triggered her £200k release clause. This left Villa very light in the middle of the pitch after long-term injuries to both Lucy Parker and Lucy Staniforth and Olivia McLoughlin leaving the club on loan to Rangers. Villa are left with just 3 midfielders in the team which could become a struggle for the remainder of the season.
