Match Preview: Aston Villa vs Watford

Aston Villa return to Villa Park looking for a much needed win over a struggling Watford side that are desperately in need of points themselves.

Villa’s 1-0 loss away to a revitalised Newcastle United showed up some worrying performances from numerous players and it means just one win in the last six games.

Watford last won in November and find themselves bottom of the form table with just one point from their last six games.

With Steven Gerrard looking to build a strong side for next season he will want some good form to attract players to the project ahead of the summer and all media reports point to numerous changes in the starting line up for today.

Danny Ings could finally get a starting opportunity and will be looking to score and get an opportunity of a run in the first team as a result and the likes of Morgan Sanson along with some of Villa’s promising youngsters could feature.

Watford recently appointed Roy Hodgson as manager and he has looked to organise them from the back.

However in regards to attacking, they have scored just once in their last six games.

Watford won the league meeting earlier in the season with a 3-2 victory on the opening day of the season. Villa rallied late on after being 3-0 down with Ismaila Sarr and Emmanuel Dennis catching the eye.

Manager Steven Gerrard will be without Ezri Konsa who serves the second game of his suspension and Bertrand Traore (hamstring) and Marvelous Nakamba (knee) are sidelined.

As eluded to earlier, it could be a changed up starting line up so it is a tricky one to predict.
