Aston Villa heads to the King Power Stadium tomorrow night to take on Leicester City in the first leg of the League Cup.
Dean Smith will know Villa will have to be at their best to beat Brendon Rodger’s side over two legs. Both clubs are at very different levels but this is the cup and anything is possible, isn’t it?
The issue is I think that most Villa supporters would take defeat if it meant Premier League survival. So will the players have the same mentality?
Brendon Rodgers has a fantastic cup record in recent seasons, mainly because he was with Celtic in Scotland, who at the time was by far the best and strongest side North of the border.
TEAM NEWS
Dean Smith has stated that Villa doesn’t have too many options available when it comes to selection due to injury issues in the squad. Due to the injuries, Orjan Nyland and Jonathan Kodjia are expected to keep their places despite defeat to Fulham in the FA Cup the weekend.
It will be interesting to see if the likes of Jack Grealish feature or if he will be rested ready for the Premier League game at the weekend.
Jamie Vardy is a doubt for Leicester after picking up a calf strain but Rodgers is hopeful that his top scorer will be available.
