ASTON VILLA 2-1 Brighton

Matt Targett’s injury-time winner stole all the points at Villa Park as Aston Villa come back from a goal down to beat Brighton 2-1.

Villa hadn’t come back from a losing position to a win a Premier League game since 2014, and against ten men, they did just that to climb up to 11th position in the table. Even those at newzealandcasinos.io didn’t see Villa scoring a winner late on.

The officials

Having failed to beat both West Ham and Arsenal with a numerical advantage, Villa found themselves in the same position when Aaron Mooy was shown two yellow cards. Though, that wasn’t the only decision the officials had to make all afternoon.

VAR wrongfully ruled out a Conor Hourihane leveller as Wesley was adjudged to have impeded Matt Ryan when the Aussie jumped to collect a Frederic Guilbert cross. It was an all too familiar story for the home fans.

Villa struggled to get into the game as Brighton dominated early on. The Seagulls were rewarded with an opener through Adam Webster who headed home from a set-piece. Though referee David Coote didn’t cover himself in glory as Hourihane seemed to have won all of the ball.

Back in the game

Targett with the winner against BrightonVilla did, however, restore parity two minutes into first-half additional time as Jack Grealish got his first Premier League goal at Villa Park. Guilbert the architect once more, it was his precise ball that allowed Grealish to bundle over the line before the break. A goal that would have seen you get a healthy payout had you been on the https://www.casinojoka.com/fr website.

The second period started as the first half left off with Villa looking to complete a swift comeback. After John McGinn progressed down the left flank, he cut back for Hourihane in the box but Ryan made the stop to deny the Irishman a third goal contribution in his last two starts.

Villa had to wait for their eventual winner, but it was worth it. Man of the Match Jack Grealish was the creator, as he so often is. He guided the ball into Targett’s path before the full-back slammed home to send Villa Park into raptures.

The Etihad awaits for Dean Smith’s men who will look to end a 12 year run of league defeats in Manchester.
