Aston Villa will head to Norfolk today to take on Norwich City in the Premier League. It is a fixture that both sides will be looking at to pick up maximum points. Both clubs were promoted this season and will see each other as relegation rivals.
Norwich have had an indifferent start to the season. On the face of it, they have impressed with their never say die performances. The problem is they lie just one point above Villa in 17th. You could also argue that the Canaries have had to face Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City. A very impressive victory came against the later.
I have repeatedly said how I feel about Villa on this website. We have been the masters of our own downfall. I often have conversations about our season so far with fellow supporters and most seem to agree with my views. We are not winning games but we are playing entertaining football. I, like many others, remain confident that we can survive this season but we need to start turning some of these impressive performances into points.
Henri Lansbury, Tyrone Mings and Matt Targett are all available for selection today. All three had injury issues but have trained ahead of today’s clash with Norwich.
Jonathan Kodjia has also returned to training but won’t be risked today and Dean Smith has stated he will be available for the home game against Brighton. James Chester continues to build up his fitness.
Norwich have a lot of bad news on the injury front and have more injuries than anyone else in the Premier League, 12. Not ideal for a side who have just been promoted.
Slight good news on the injury front for the Canaries. Left-back Jamel Lewis will be available despite picking up an elbow injury last week against Crystal Palace. Ben Godfrey will delay an operation on his hernia until the international break so will play through the pain barrier.
