With the financial difficulties that are taking place at Villa Park, we need to look at what we have already in our squad to give us the best shot of challenging next season. It looks unlikely that we are going to be able to delve into the transfer market, so it would be ideal to make the most of the players we already have.
There is one player in particular, who has brought a fair bit of controversy to Aston Villa is Scotsman Ross McCormack. Signed for a fee in the region of £12 million from Fulham on a four-year deal back in August 2016, McCormack is yet to prove his worth in Claret and Blue.
He spent last season on loan at Australian club Melbourne City and he proved to be pretty popular with his teammates and supporters alike scoring an impressive 14 goals in 16 appearances.
There has been much discussion amongst Villa supporters on various social media platforms about the future of McCormack and whether he deserves another chance at the club.
Personally, I think that nothing bad can come of giving him another opportunity to show us what he can do. McCormack doesn’t exactly bring pace to the table but just from seeing him in a brief manner at Villa, he clearly has a good strike on him and wants to always find the back of the net.
Some have suggested that he could form a partnership with Scott Hogan up top with McCormack sitting just behind the former Brentford man. Hogan’s runs and pace could compliment McCormack’s style excellently and hopefully bring much-needed goals to the side.
As I already mentioned, the striker found the new a few times in Australia although some would argue the A-League isn’t as intense or competitive as the Championship and at the end of the day, goals win games so if we can’t offload him on a permanent deal then surely we should be looking to utilize him and get something back for the money we paid out for him.

I would give him a go, playing him off Hogan or Davis, particularly if Grealish moves on. Kodjia is too much of an individual player in my view. I think we need more than one up top, now the goal potential from midfield has diminished with the loss of Snodgrass and probably Grealish and, maybe, even Adomah too.
I am not sure Bruce will be keen to play McCormack though.
