Aston Villa is set to do battle with Celtic for Yeovil youngster Tom James, according to reports.
Sportslens claims that Villa will face competition from Celtic, Swansea and Bristol City for the signature of the highly rated youngster.
The defender has already played for Wales at Under 19 level and impressed in cup competitions when they have faced Premiership teams such as Manchester United and Chelsea.
James, 22, originally come through the Cardiff City academy before joining Yeovil in January 2017 when the Welsh side cancelled his contract.
The youngster has gone on to impress during his 41 appearances for the League 1 side and is attracting a lot of interest.
He will only have one year remaining on his contract this summer so Yeovil will look to cash in while they still can.
Jame can operate at right-back or at centre-back in a defensive three.
Villa are not short on players who can play at right-back themselves but his versatility maybe something that interests the club.
The futures of Alan Hutton and Richie De Laet will need to be decided this summer while James Bree’s future will be unknown as he has failed to make an impact since signing from Barnsley.
TRINITY ROAD STAND TO OPEN
Aston Villa has today announced that the Trinity Road Upper Stand will be opened for the final Championship game at Villa Park this season against Derby County.
The stand has been closed since Villa’s relegation from the Premiership and has only opened when demand was there.
Villa generally gets big crowds for the last game of the season and this season looks no different. The prospect of Steve Bruce’s side entering the playoffs will no doubt be a big pull for stay away supporters.
