Without a win in three matches, many fans have begun to question Steve Bruce’s team selection and now that youngster Andre Green is edging closer and closer to his return, whether he should be in the starting eleven is a common talking point amongst the Villa fans.
Green impressed earlier in the season until he was ruled out with an injury.One of these was in the 4-2 victory against Norwich, in which he scored a beauty that curled majestically into the top corner of the net. His confidence seemed to be growing and he was keeping players like Albert Adomah on the bench.
His injury came at a bad time as he was playing well and was dominating the left wing against some opposition, however, these things happen and Adomah stepped in for him. Luckily for the club, Adomah has stepped up making a massive contribution towards our poor goal tally this season. The bad news for Green is that he will have to win his position back against the in-form Ghanian
On the opposite wing, we have Robert Snodgrass who has been decent, contributing to the goals and assists but some fans feel the player should be doing better. With Green closing in on a return to match fitness – could Bruce shuffle things up by dropping Snodgrass for the Villa supporting winger?
The two players have different playing styles, however. Green will look to cut inside and have a shot, what some may call an inside forward in the modern game. Although Snodgrass likes to also cut inside he looks for the pass or cross.
Personally I think that if Green is fit and ready then he deserves a chance to show his worth. Green is one of my favorite players and I thought he was a huge loss when we lost him due to injury. Snodgrass has also been good and it could be seen as harsh to drop him by some sections of the faithful.
Equally Green could make a big impact off the bench, maybe he could come on later on the game when Snodgrass has nothing left in the tank, as he will run at players and cause defenders a big problem late in the game.
