Can Villa get promotion?

Villa will return to action at Villa Park against Sheffield United

When Aston Villa got relegated a couple of years ago I said to many friends and on the forums that Villa would struggle the first season but walk it the second and get promotion back to the Premier League.

Championship football returns this coming weekend and Villa will host newly relegated Hull City at Villa Park. Most betting websites like 10bet have Villa up there as favourites and if we are to have any chance of getting promotion this season then a strong start, in particular at home is needed. There can not be any excuses this season.

Social media is a wash of negative fans, mainly due to their lack of faith in the manager but I still remain optimistic and let me explain my reasons behind this.

If Villa are to get promotion, home form will be vitalIt was no secret that we needed to be rebuilt and I think we are just about there. I would have a liked an established number 10 to come in this season but if the manager can get the best out of what we have – like he should – then there is no reason why we can’t put a good run of form together.

We didn’t need the exciting signings that so many wanted this summer. We needed what some would call ‘boring, non-exciting’ players and I mean no disrespect to those that we have signed this summer but I firmly believe it is what we have signed.

Bruce and his team have managed to bring in experienced players who will give their all to the team and do the boring unnoticed work on the football pitch.

So many players have spoken about getting promoted this season and unlike last season I believe that they really believe in their ability and what they can achieve.

I don’t read too much into pre-season as I firmly believe it is nothing but a fitness exercise and the players do look fitter than we have looked in the past 2-3 seasons going into a new season.

The chairman has already rubbished any excuses as we approach this season and the manager has put a lot of pressure on himself. There are and always will be a selection of supporters who will look for every opportunity to jump on the back of Bruce.

Some down to his style of football and some down to his history with our rivals Birmingham City. I for one couldn’t care less who he used to manage and how he plays football. All that matters to me this season is the promotion.

So if we go on to gain promotion by playing boring all season long and grinding out results, I will take it. Super Six lEAGUE

One thing is for sure, we as fans need to step up and get firmly behind the boys this season. As much as we will never forgive those for putting us in the situation we currently find ourselves in, it is time for us to move on and face reality.

We are a championship club right now and we want a promotion. Let’s get behind Bruce and the boys, starting this Saturday!

  1. We certainly look very good at the back,Midfield also with Glenn Whelan & Jedinak,But we don’t have many goals in us,Without Kodija we will struggle sorry guys.

  2. Absolutely agree with Adrian spot on, now without Kodjia and Grealish I think we are in trouble before we start, no goals no wins.

  3. […] I don’t think that we need to make any more signings this season and we should focus on making sure that the squad we have now is as strong as possible and can get us back where we belong, in the Premier League. […]
