Swansea City v Aston Villa – the preview

SwanseaCity  take on Aston Villa in the Premier League this evening and the Welsh outfit will look to continue their journey away from the relegation zone.

After a disappointing start to the season, the Swans have now steered clear of the bottom three and are heading towards a mid-table finish. A win this evening would take the team to thirty-six points and put relegation fears to bed.

According to Sportytrader’s odds comparison, the three points are likely to be taken by Swansea City, who will exploit home advantage.

After a loss against Bournemouth, the Swansea players are determined to deliver against Aston Villa this weekend.

The managerial change has worked for Swansea City and Francesco Guidolin seems to have turned things around at the Liberty Stadium. However, it is not quite the same for Aston Villa. Despite a managerial change, the Villans have failed to improve and seem destined for the Championship. French manager Rémi Garde has not had the impact the fans expected.

Along with CEO Tom Fox, Aston Villa’s first-ever sporting director left his role this week as chairman Steve Hollis began the first round of a major clear out at Villa Park.

The away side will now need a major slice of luck to escape relegation this season. For Aston Villa, the remaining Premier League games should be about salvaging some of their lost pride.

Changes are being made at Aston Villa but is it too little, too late?

Team news:

Jack Grealish, Carlos Sánchez and Libor Kozák will all be hoping to be back in contention following injury problems.

Jordan Amavi and Adama Traoré are the only injury worries for Garde and Aston Villa.

There are no major injury worries for Swansea City, although Andre Ayew may be sidelined because of an ankle problem.

Predicted line-ups:

Predicted Swansea City starting line-up:

Fabianski

Rangel     Williams     Fernandez     Taylor

Cork     Fer

Ayew     Sigurdsson     Routledge

Paloschi

Predicted Aston Villa starting line-up:

Guzan

Hutton     Okore     Lescott     Clark

Veretout     Gueye     Westwood     Bacuna

Ayew     Gestede

Key statistics:

The Villans have failed to win 27 of their last 29 matches in the Premier League.

The Swans have won their last 4 matches against Aston Villa in all competitions.

Prediction:

In a week of changes, Aston Villa will be desperate to reward their fans with a positive result this weekend.

Although Swansea City is the better side right now, the Welsh outfit has had problems with consistency and the Villans will want to exploit that.

It should be a tight game and it will be hard to separate the two sides.
