Villa held by Everton
Villa’s Champions League hopes are virtually gone after a highly entertaining fixture against Everton.
Villa new that a win would take them above Liverpool and they would still have a shout in catching Spurs and Manchester City but the Toffee’s had very different ideas.
Everton took the lead when the referee awarded Osman a very dodgy free-kick. Leighton Baines floated a beautiful ball into the Villa area and non other than Tim Cahill headed the ball past Brad Friedel.
Gabby Agbonlahor brought Villa back on level terms with 18 minutes to play. The striker scored his 50th goal for the club when he headed home James Milner’s cross.
It only took Everton two minute to regain there lead though. Bilyaletdinov sent over a corner and Cahill was once again the man to head the ball past Brad Friedel.
The game looked all but over and Villa fans were questioning why the referee had given so many decisions against them yet again when they drew level.
In injury time Young arrowed over a left-wing centre and Jagielka could only deflect the ball wide of Howard who tried in vain to keep it out of the net.
It was the result the neither side wanted, but I believe we should be happy with this because Everton played some very good stuff at times.
Lets just look forward to our trip to the South Coast the weekend and hope that we can pick up three points there.
