Parker, Barnetta and Eduardo

Parker, Barnetta and Eduardo

With the World Cup over for our country once again after the national disgrase they called the England football team lay down and died against the Germans the rumours are back in full force.

Despite West Ham declaring that all there players have a price except Scott Parker apparently we are ready to test there resolve by making a £10 million bid for the England International.

Parker, in my opinion is a fantastic player and one I wish we took full advantage of when he left Chelsea but I think the greedy Hammers owners will demand to much for a player reaching the later years of his career.

Tranquillo Barnetta

Tranquillo Barnetta is a Switzerland international who played a big part in the Switz World Cup Campaign even though they were sent packing in the group stages.

I don’t know a lot about the midfielder except that he’s 25 years old and that he helped Bayer Levukusen to a fantastic early season run last season – courtesy of Wikipedia of course.

Apparently we will make a £4million offer for the player, which does sound like the kind of cash Martin O’Neill likes to splash around but he doesn’t have the British pedigree that he tends to go for.

Eduardo

Now we was linked with Eduardo earlier in the summer and over the past few days the rumour has come back from nowhere with Talksport announcing it yesterday.

There is no doubt he is a quality player but I’m pretty sure a lot was made about songs sung about him at the Emirates by Villa fans when he broke his leg which would make me question why he would have any interest in signing for Villa at all?

Never the less despite him not regaining the form he had before his injury I still think he could be a fantastic player with a new club and a fresh start so I would welcome the move.

O’Neill and More Milner talk!

O’Neill and More Milner talk!

Lets face it we have a very good manager and one who is always going to be linked with top clubs so it is no real surprise that Liverpool apparently want Martin O’Neill to replace the possible outgoing Rafa Benitez.

Liverpool have had a absolute terrible season, and with the manager refusing to commit himself to the club despite just signing a long term deal and the ownership of the club in the air it’s no wonder they want a manager who can bring stab-ability.

And in my opinion there are two options for this and that’s Martin O’Neill and David Moyes and I don’t think Moyes is brave enough to move across Stanley Park after so long with the Blue side of Mersyside.

Randy Lerner has already said Martin will be at Villa Park next season and he has today come out in the press again stating that he wouldn’t allow O’Neill to move to Liverpool so that is that.

James Milner

According to a lot of the press Milner is already on his way out of Villa Park but unless he says he want’s to leave I don’t think he will be leaving as Villa wont sell him – after all we don’t need to.

Apparently Man City and Chelsea will do battle for his signature and will sign him for around £24million. Let’s face it this isn’t the first James Milner rumour and It wont be the last – It’s what comes with top quality players.

Richards, Guardado, and Manolev

Richards, Guardado, and Manolev

The rumour mill continued today when Villa were linked with yet another four players. I’m going to go through each player and give you my opinion on weather or not they could make the grade at Villa Park.

Sky Sports are reporting Manchester City defender Micah Richards is being linked with Villa, along with a host of other clubs including Spurs and Arsenal. Richards is a player I admire immensly and would welcome any move for the young defender. His past season or two he seem’s to of fell out of favour at Eastlands but just like Richard Dunne I think he’s a player who needs a fresh start at a new club with new management.

Radio Cadena Ser are claiming that Villa are to do battle with Blackburn over the possible signing of winger Andres Guardado of Deportivo La Coruna. I’m not going to make up some rubbish and say I know a lot about this player apart from he’s decent on Football Manager. Having taken a look at his wikipedia page, he’s only 23 and has already nearly clocked up half a century of apperances for his country.

The Mail are reporting that we are interested in Stanislav Manolev and will have to fight of competition from Manchester City for the Bulgarian full back. He has apparently taken Dutch football by storm since his £3million move to PSV last summer and both English clubs are set to pay around double that to bring him to the Premiership.

Rumours Gal-our: Harewood, Keane, Ireland, McGeady & Doyle!

Rumours Gal-our: Harewood, Keane, Ireland, McGeady & Doyle!

It’s no surprise that the end of the season is near as Aston Villa are starting to be rumoured with just about any player who is unsettled or possibly due a move to a bigger club.

I will start today with our very own Marlon Harewood. It’s no secret that he will be leaving Villa Park in the very near future and theres reported interest from Galatasary and Al-Sadd.

He will be a free agent in the summer and although lower league sides are almost certain to show interest the rumour is that Marlon wants to make a fresh start overseas.

There is a rumour also that we are lining up moves for Irish quartet Robbie Keane, Stephen Ireland, Aiden McGeady and Kevin Doyle. Lets just look at each one at there own merit for a second.

Robbie Keane turned down a move to Villa Park on more than one occasion in the past, and is hitting an age now where we after wonder if he can still do a job in the Premier League. Yes, he’s scoring goals in Scotland but we all know by now that doesn’t exactly mean a lot. So is this the 20 goal a season striker we crave for? I don’t think so.

Stephen Ireland in my opinion is a very talented footballer but has the wrong atitude at times. He’s a playboy who likes his bling bling and you have to question why hes fell out of favour so much at Manchester City? Despite this with the right guidance he is a player I would take a chance on and try and bring, however would Manchester City sell to a rival? Again, I don’t think so.

Aiden McGeady is the next one on the list, and again like every summer he’s linked with a move down South. I don’t know a lot about him so I’m not going to pretend I do, but everytime I have seen him play he hasn’t looked anything special to me. And with this one you have to ask yourself, why hasn’t no-one actually tried to bring him down South already when he’s been linked with moves for the past two or three seasons. This is the kind of signing I can see Martin O’Neill doing, but it’s not one I would encourage.

And now it brings me to Wolves striker Kevin Doyle. Kevin Doyle in my opinion is at the right club. Wolverhampton Wanderers, like Reading are made for him. They will appreciate him and I don’t think he really would be made for a bigger club. I can’t see him scoring 20 goals a season regardless of who he plays for and I wouldn’t want to even think about the possible price tag Wolves would place on their star asset so again this is a big no no for me.

David Beckham, Dani Guiza, and Thomas Kuszczak

David Beckham, Dani Guiza, and Thomas Kuszczak

I couldn’t really write a post today without mentioning what’s happened to David Beckham. If you haven’t already heard, Beckham has been ruled out of the World Cup after snapping his Achilles tendon.

Its a shame for such a player, who clearly wanted to play some part at the World Cup, and probably more than most do. He’s a true legend and always will be in my eyes.

Now onto the rumours, Villa have been linked with a move for Fenerbahce striker Dani Guiza. The striker has made it clear he wants to quit Turkey, but he has been rumoured with wanting to return to his homeland Spain.

The striker has scored 19 goals in 45 appearances in Turkey and has a record of scoring where ever he goes.

Now Thomas Kuszack is another apparently on Martin O’Neill’s radar and the Daily Star are today suggesting that Martin O’Neill will try to persuade the unsettled goalkeeper to move to Villa Park, and become the number 1 goalkeeper.

The 27 year old has played second fiddle to Edwin Van De Sar since he signed from West Bromwich Albion and he recently stated that he may have to quit Old Trafford if he is to fur-fill his Premiership ambitions.

I would welcome the move for Kuszczak who i rate very highly and would love to seem him take over Brad Friedel in the Villa goal.
