Would losing Milner be such a disaster?

I was reading Stan Collymore’s column in the Daily Star today and he spoke about James Milner and the prospect of losing him.

He went on to say that most people are saying James Milner has already hit his peak and he won’t get any better than he currently is so would it be such a bad thing to sell him now while we stand the chance of making so much money on him and in my opinion he does have a point.

Now of course it’s down to Martin O’Neill to decide weather or not he will improve some more and regardless of what O’Neill decides only the future will be able to tell.

The problem for O’Neill is that next season will be a massive one for him and if he doesn’t bring some form of success to Villa Park then I have a feeling he will walk if not pushed.

Back on topic anyway, I really like Jimmy a lot and would love him to stay at the club but losing players for big money can lead to future success.

Take Everton for example who lost Wayne Rooney to Manchester United. David Moyes went on to improve there squad and since have always been there or there abouts come the end of each season.

I know most fans won’t look at it like this way and just like Gareth Barry if Jimmy Milner does decide to leave he will become a traitor to them but one thing we must always remember and that is no amount of money or anyone football player is worth more than our Aston Villa Football Club.

Luke Young

Luke Young has pretty much said goodbye to his Aston Villa career after stating that Martin O’Neill hasnt given him a fair chance at the club this season.

I like Luke a lot and I personally believe he is the best English right back around but Martin O’Neill doesnt like players drying there laundry in public and it will be no different for Mr Young.

O’Neill and More Milner talk!

Lets face it we have a very good manager and one who is always going to be linked with top clubs so it is no real surprise that Liverpool apparently want Martin O’Neill to replace the possible outgoing Rafa Benitez.

Liverpool have had a absolute terrible season, and with the manager refusing to commit himself to the club despite just signing a long term deal and the ownership of the club in the air it’s no wonder they want a manager who can bring stab-ability.

And in my opinion there are two options for this and that’s Martin O’Neill and David Moyes and I don’t think Moyes is brave enough to move across Stanley Park after so long with the Blue side of Mersyside.

Randy Lerner has already said Martin will be at Villa Park next season and he has today come out in the press again stating that he wouldn’t allow O’Neill to move to Liverpool so that is that.

James Milner

According to a lot of the press Milner is already on his way out of Villa Park but unless he says he want’s to leave I don’t think he will be leaving as Villa wont sell him – after all we don’t need to.

Apparently Man City and Chelsea will do battle for his signature and will sign him for around £24million. Let’s face it this isn’t the first James Milner rumour and It wont be the last – It’s what comes with top quality players.

General Krulak: MON going nowhere!

It looks more than likely that Martin O’Neill will still be manager of Aston Villa next season.

A fan on Villatalk stated that he was sick and tired of the style of football Villa play under Martin O’Neill. He went on to say that Villa have become a boring side to watch and far to predictable.

Something some would agree with, as many have mentioned the very same thing on our forums.

However, General Krulak good enough as stated in his reply that Martin O’Neill isn’t going anywhere and also revealed that Randy Lerner will hold a press conference in the coming week, which wont be bad news for Villa fans.

Anyway Krulak’s reply read:

I hate to disappoint you but we will not be getting a new Manager. We happen to believe that MON is the man we want and that he can get the job done.

So all those MON haters better get used to having him around and get behind the lads or stop coming down to Villa Park.

Does Randy want MON to leave?

I keep reading report after report about Martin O’Neill and his future with Aston Villa, and it always seems to stem down to our owner Randy Lerner.

So has the main man himself actually lost patience with the manager?

At the end of season awards dinner, 500 hundred fans paid hard earned money to go to be there, yet Randy Lerner wasn’t present in his own seat along side O’Neill.

And it didn’t take long for a fan to ask O’Neill the million dollar question,”Are you staying Martin, or not?” and in typical Martin O’Neill fashion his reply can with cockiness – “All I can say is that Randy Lerner has no need to ring Mark Hughes”.

Earlier on in the season I did think to myself, do we need a new and fresh start but the more I thought about it the more I thought that we have a manager in charge that the players respect and look up to.

If MON was to leave, would we be losing some of our star players? Would we be in fact making a step backwards?

I personally believe the decision’s that went against us in the two trips to Wembley hurt Martin and the players a awful lot, and made them become a lot closer. A bit like the way Jose Mourinho made out that it was Chelsea vs The World.

I think Martin want’s to stay despite possible doubt in his own mind at some stage this season, but I do often wonder if Randy Lerner wants something new.

I suppose only time will tell, but could this be the last game in charge for Martin this weekend?

Mark Hughes

The News of the World is reporting that Mark Hughes is in line to replace Martin O’Neill if the manager decides to leave Villa Park in the summer.

Although O’Neill has pledged his immediate future to the club, sources inside Villa Park are worried that the Villa boss is ready to step aside.

If Mark Hughes is the best Randy Lerner can come up with the best fight tooth and nail to keep old of Martin O’Neill.

Mark Hughes did ok with Blackburn, but didn’t really do a lot with Manchester City despite spending over £200million with the Manchester side.

The paper are stating that although Hughes is Randy Lerner’s first choice, Mark Hughes won’t speak to the club until the manager leaves as he is still unhappy at the way he was dismissed at Manchester City.

I really hope this doesn’t happen. Mark Hughes isn’t any better than what we already have; in fact I think this would be a step backwards if anything.
