Transfer Rumours

As I already stated there isn’t a lot to write about on this front. We have been linked with a possible move for Martin Petrov who has been released from his contract at Man City – a player I wouldn’t mind being given a short term contract.

‘Arry Redknapp is reportedly willing to offer around £10million and Robbie Keane to take Gabby Agbonlahor of us which I don’t think will be happening any time soon seeing as Gabby is one of O’Neill’s golden boys.

England v Allstars

James Milner, Stephen Warnock and Emile Heskey all featured in Englands 3-0 victory over local South African side Platinum Allstars yesterday afternoon.

All three played the second half and now many believe Heskey will be the player to start along side Wayne Rooney against the USA on Saturday.

England’s goals come from Jermaine Defoe, Joe Cole and Wayne Rooney.

£45million for Gabby and Young? Cya boys!

£45million for Gabby and Young? Cya boys!

There are reports today that Roberto Mancini is planning a audacious bid for two of our players – Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor.

But as the title suggest he believes that a £45million deal would be enough to secure the pair – well my response to Mancini is – what the hell are you waiting for?

I will probably get shot by many Villa fans but I’ve never seen the big fuss over Ashley Young. To say he creates so much is just silly really as he probably delivers a decent ball into the box once a game – twice if we are lucky.

And then there’s Gabby. I was one of his biggest critics before this season and I will hold my hand up and give credit where it’s due. Agbonlahor has improved as a footballer but I cant see him ever being that 25+ goal a season player.

Just think what we could do with £45million. I know Stephen Ireland looks to be leaving City and he would probably be aloud to leave for around the region of £6-7million and that would still leave over £30million to bring in more talent.

Then there is that striker that we have craved for so long – If you can’t find a decent striker with that kind of money then you really are in trouble.

Villa held by Everton

Villa held by Everton

Villa’s Champions League hopes are virtually gone after a highly entertaining fixture against Everton.

Villa new that a win would take them above Liverpool and they would still have a shout in catching Spurs and Manchester City but the Toffee’s had very different ideas.

Everton took the lead when the referee awarded Osman a very dodgy free-kick. Leighton Baines floated a beautiful ball into the Villa area and non other than Tim Cahill headed the ball past Brad Friedel.

Gabby Agbonlahor brought Villa back on level terms with 18 minutes to play. The striker scored his 50th goal for the club when he headed home James Milner’s cross.

It only took Everton two minute to regain there lead though. Bilyaletdinov sent over a corner and Cahill was once again the man to head the ball past Brad Friedel.

The game looked all but over and Villa fans were questioning why the referee had given so many decisions against them yet again when they drew level.

In injury time Young arrowed over a left-wing centre and Jagielka could only deflect the ball wide of Howard who tried in vain to keep it out of the net.

It was the result the neither side wanted, but I believe we should be happy with this because Everton played some very good stuff at times.

Lets just look forward to our trip to the South Coast the weekend and hope that we can pick up three points there.

Villa head for Wigan..

Villa head for Wigan..

Villa head up to Lancashire tonight to take on Wigan at the D.W Stadium.

They currently lie 6 points adrift of fourth place Tottenham with two games in hand so a win tonight would take them to just three points behind Spurs.

The boys in Claret and Blue haven’t conceded a goal in there last five away outing’s including there goalless draw with Midland rivals Stoke at the weekend.

Wigan on the other hand are hard to predict. They beat Liverpool last week at home, while getting thrashed away from home at Bolton the weekend.

The home side lie just four points above the drop zone so will be looking to pick up points wherever possible.

Mario Melchiot is the only absentee for Roberto Martinez has he has a thing injury which has kept him out of the last two games.

Gabby Agbonlahor is expected to return to the starting lineup after recovering from his virus, as either John Carew or Emile Heskey will make way.

This isn’t the easiest game to predict with the way Wigan are however Villa usually do well up here and will want to avoid losing to Wigan twice in one season after the home defeat in the very first game of the campaign.

Avillafan.com Prediction: Away Win.
