Full Time: Fulham 0 Aston Villa 2

Full Time: Fulham 0 Aston Villa 2

Despite snow in the area the game kicked of in the winter sun, with the Villa fans making all the noise. Villa went with the same side as we predicted that started in mid-week against Arsenal.

All the talk before this game was all about how Villa have failed to score in the past four games, and havent won in any of those four either, but as i said time and time again, look at the fixtures and you can see why. Playing Arsenal twice and a game with Liverpool in there – the reports forget to mention these though dont they?

Villa took the lead today on 39 minutes when Petrov crosses the ball into the Fulham area, and Gabby Agbonlahor beat Chris Smalling in the air and heads it towards the Fulham goal, and despite hitting directly at Mark Schwarzer, the power of the header gives Villa the lead.

Gabby’s second of the afternoon, is defernatly one worth seeing on Match of the Day tonight. Carlos Cuellar played the ball into Agbonlahor, who turns Hangeland on the edge of the box and side foots it into the Fulham net for his twelve goal of the season.

Fulham nearly got a goal back when David Elm sneaked in behind Luke Young and fired past Brad Friedel only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Despite Fulham having chances to score, and denied by some wonderful saves from veteran keeper Brad Friedel, Villa defernatly deserved all three points and they will now be looking forward to taking on Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

I don’t usually mention chants but one the Villa fans sung today made me chuckle. Sung to the Fulham fans after the goal was ruled offside: “You only sing when your offside”.

Aston Villa travel to Craven Cottage this afternoon becoming Fulhams first opponents at Craven Cottage in 2010. The Londoners have gone ten games unbeaten at home, so this won’t be no easy fixture for Villa.

Villa, without a win or a goal in four games but im sure they will be looking to put that right. While Fulham havent won a game in five.

Teamnews for the homeside still see’s them without the likes of Andy Johnson, Clint Dempsey, Paul Konchesky and John Panstil. However, Bobby Zamora and Simon Davis will step up there comebacks and should play some part in the game.

Martin O’Neill will keep faith in his side that drawed at home with Arsenal in mid-week, as John Carew and Stephen Warnock are still ruled out. While Nigel Reo-Coker was ruled out for three months earlier in the week.

This wont be no easy game for either side and both will want to stop the rot in there recent league form.

Avillafan.com Prediction: Away win (1-2)

Full Time: Villa 0 West Ham 0

Villa could only manage a goaless draw at Villa Park today against West Ham in a game that we really should be taking all three points.

Its no secret that other clubs have sat up and took notice of whats been happening at Villa Park, as Fulham last season celebrated as if they had won the game when they drawed with us 0-0. This year it was West Hams turn to frustrate and then celebrate.

There used to be a time that the Eastend side would expect to give Villa a game, and although they did have a few chances today it was clear by Gianfranco Zolas tactics that they were here just to avoid defeat.

Villa also blew the chance to close the gap on Manchester City and Tottenham and now instead sit two points behind them after playing the same number of games.

It wasnt the most entertaining of games when there was only one chance really in the first half. Stewart Downing crossed the ball and a wonderful piece of skill sin Gabriel Agbonlahor with a spinning snap-shot only to be denied by England goalkeeper Robert Green.

In the second half Villa did get the ball in the hammers net, but John Carew was judged to of been offside.

And then Agbonlahor could of won all three points in the final minutes when Stewart Downing found him in acres of space and he broke free only to be denied once again by the West Ham goalkeeper.

Villa showed they struggle to break down a side who set out not to concede today and this route one football down the wings was once again found out. If we are to ever break the top 4 we must have more than just a plan A as its becoming obvious how Villa will attack each and every time now.
