Full Time: Aston Villa 0-0 Arsenal

It seems Villa used up all their goals in recent weeks, as they failed to find the net, holding Arsenal to a goaless draw.

A win would have meant the Gunners going top of the league but both teams’ inability to find the net made this a frustrating encounter.

Both teams, however, came close to scoring but were denied by the woodwork.

A fine run by Arshavin resulted in Tomas Rosicky rattling the cross bar, and Stewart Downing should have scored with a header but he too, hit the post.

Both managers will be slightly down-hearted after the result but we won’t have to play an Arsenal team that goes to ground at every single opportunity again this season.

Tonight also saw who our opposition would be in the Carling Cup final, Manchester United beating Manchester City 3-1 (4-3 on aggregate).

Davis going nowhere!

Martin O’Neill has today ruled out a move that would see Curtis Davis join up with Scottish giants Celtic on loan for the remainder of the season.

O’Neill stated he wasnt in the position to allow the central defender link back up with former manager Tony Mowbray.

Meanwhile, im expecting Villa to announce more details relating Carling Cup Final tickets which are due to go on sale on Wednesday, at some point today.

We already know that tickets will be available from 9am on Wednesday morning to season ticket holders only, priced at around £35-£80 depending on where you sit in the stadium.

Preview: Aston Villa v Brighton & Hove Albion

After booking our place in the Carling Cup Final against Blackburn on Wednesday night, tomorrow we are in action in the FA Cup. This time up is League 1 outfit Brighton.

Brighton have recently got back to back wins, with one of those in the Midlands with a 2-1 win over Walsall at Bescott last weekend.

There are expected to be many changes for Villa, with Brad Friedel, Carlos Cueller, Stiliyan Petrov, James Milner, Ashley Young and Emile Heskey all expected to be rested.

Curtis Davis could make a return after a lenghty stay on the injury table but will have to proove his fitness, while Wilfred Bouma is also close to return but it is expected that this weeks game will come to early for him.

Brighton will be missing on loan defender Marcos Painter as he is cup tied, so Jim McNulty is expected to come into the fold.

Gus Poyet’s side will no doubt come to Villa Park knowing they have everything to gain, and nothing to lose so this wont be no walk in the park.

Avillafan.com Prediction: Home win.

On the march with O’Neills Army..

.. Were all going to Wem-ber….. No we are not quite there yet but Villa head into the crucial Semi Final clash against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow with a 1-0 lead from the away leg.

I say crucial, but some might say whats important to one man, isnt so important to next. Blackburn Rovers are bringing just under 2,000 supporters with them tomorrow despite FREE travel. Blackburn have returned 4,000 tickets. Quite shocking really and for this reason i really hope Villa give them a beating.

So for all those who havent already read the official website, there are now a limited amount of seats available in Block P of the Doug Ellis Stand – usually wear the away supporters sit.

Im sure we have all been reading the papers of the players and the manager saying what they are going to do, and how they really want the final but we all know talk is cheap, and the only talking the players can actually do is on the pitch underneath the famous lights of Villa Park tomorrow night.

The club are treating it special with free flags to help boost the atmosphere inside Villa and limited edition matchday programmes.

Villa have a full side to choose from, and i have a feeling we might see the return of Young, who will replace Collins with Cueller moving back into the middle.

One thing i know will be certain tomorrow is a electric atmosphere with the claret and blue faithful behind the lads. Come on the Villa!!

Here we come Blackburn!

Aston Villa and there official following of 5,500 supporters are heading to Ewood Park for the first of two games in the Semi-Final of the Carling Cup.

Avillafan.com will be taking our own coach so be sure to look out for us, and our flag.

This is our best chance of silverware since becoming runners up in the FA Cup 10 years ago, so as you can imagine all Villa fans, myself included are really excited.

You have Martin O’Neill saying that a club of Villa’s size should be compeating for silverware more often, while in the other camp you have Sam Alladyce saying he really hopes Blackburn get something at home tomorrow.

All i know is, the game will be nothing like the one at Villa Park on Saturday. And not just because there will be fans at this one, but because both sides will put out there strongest available eleven and be all guns blazing for a win.

Ive dreamt about Villa lifting a cup at the new wembley since it was built, and i firmly believe this could be our year!!
