6 times in a row, the city is ours…
Before today’s game I think it’s safe to say that 99% of Villa fans would of taken any kids of victory today weather it be a scrappy own goal or even another 5-1 thrashing.
So when Gabriel Agbonlahor was awarded a dubious penalty with seven minutes to play, myself like everyone of the other 40,000 Villa fans inside the stadium didn’t care about the feelings of our Small Heath neighbours.
After all, when we complained about being hard done by on our two visits to wembley this season, we was just brush aside and told to get other it. So when you go to work today and that nose comes out with whatever excuse they have to offer, remember your reply should be ‘get over it’.
It wasn’t the best and most exciting of games and the weather played havoc with our minds when it was raining one minute and the sun was shining the next but never the less a win is a win when it comes to playing a derby.
James Milner’s winner means we have now done the double over Birmingham City this season and keep ourselves well and truly in the hunt for the fourth Champions League spot.
Regardless of what happens now I think we should be proud of the lads for what we have achieved this season and really get behind them for the last two games.
Next up is Manchester City and a win there could prove massive!
Villa are going to Wembley, Blues ent!
There isn’t a lot to talk about today so I thought I would take this moment to talk about the bitterness that is coming from across the City.
I’m sure we have all had a bluenose come up to us and laugh about what happened in the Carling Cup Final – they couldn’t accept that Nemanja Vidic should of sore red, it was all purely because we was rubbish.
Well what goes around comes around. Birmingham failed to progress to the Semi Final of the FA Cup in a game, if we are all honest, they were expected to win.
The excuse’s come and fell on death ears, very much the same way our excuses did on the Monday morning after the cup final. But what really made me laugh was where Villa fans said by having Vidic sent off, it wouldn’t mean victory, but a good chance. Birmingham fans seem to believe that Ridgewell’s goal that never was should of counted – which I do agree with – but then they would of gone on to win the game? Come on!
Just remember Birmingham you are where you belong, still the second team in the Midlands, and still jealous and bitter by the fact that Villa is going to Wembley for the second time this season.
And yes there’s a possibility that we could lose, just like we could win – but at least we are there and no matter what excuse you come up with, you know deep down that you wish Birmingham were there to!
So, Wemberleeee, Wemberleeee, it’s the famous part of London that the Blues will never see!
Birmingham going to Wembley!
There isnt much in the papers today about possible transfers to or from Villa Park so i thought i would take this oppurtunity to have a little moan about the poor handling of Cup Final tickets.
I found out yesterday that all staff at Villa Park will be going to Wembley for free. They will all recieve one ticket each, with a option to buy at least 1 more. This will be one more than the ‘real’ ‘loyal’ supporters are aloud as each fan is only aloud 1 ticket each.
That isnt the worst part though, then i later found out that there are plenty of Birmingham City fans who work behind the kiosks at Villa Park who will also be going to Wembley and sitting in the Villa end. And guess who they will be supporting? Well come on, it wont be the boys in Claret & Blue now will it?
I feel this is a absolute disgrace that the loyal supporter who has to graft all week round to be able to afford there weekend trips to follow our beloved club then have this sort of thing thrown in there face. We might aswell all give up our day jobs and go and work down the Villa for a minimum wage. At least this way we get payed to watch the Villa every week and we are guarenteed a free cup final ticket when we get there.
I don’t know whos idea this was, but they didnt think it through really. I could understand if they give staff who have worked at Villa Park for numerous years some loyalty bonus, and gave them free tickets of some sort. But in order to get a ticket you only have to of worked 14 of the 17 games Villa have played at home this season, and then your going to Wembley.
So all those fans who couldnt afford season tickets at the start of the season, and have only been to as many games as your wages allow you. When your standing in the que, waiting for the remaining Cup Final tickets that have just gone on sale – and then you get to the front only to find out they are all sold. Just remember – its ok because theres a bluenose most likely sitting in your seat at Wembley!
Gardner joins the enemy, anyone in for Villa?
We all knew it was coming, Craig Gardner has gone and joined the enemy across the City in a deal believed to be worth £3.5million.
Hes played for Villa 79 times, and signs a 4 and half year deal with Small Heath.
He maybe leaving for first team football, but is this the day that Gardner could go on to regret for the rest of his career? Birmingham City are the Yo-yo football club and not if, but when they begin struggling again and then get relegated, Craig will then be playing his trade in the Fizzy pop league.
To had insult to this, he joins stating that hes happy to be playing for the team he supported as a boy.
What i find funny is, after the negative reaction from blues fans when Liam Ridgewell signed, they have had to mention the fact that Craig is a bluenose as many times as possible in there story that probably doesnt contain anymore than 200 words.
Anyway, hes gone – hes now forgotten about and hes one of them. So with 4 days remaining of the transfer window does Martin O’Neill have anyone lined up to bring in? He stated he would only sign a player if someone left. Well here you go Martin, ones gone.
I can’t see us signing anyone to be honest, and it hasnt feel like a transfer window this month because i never felt like Martin had any intention of doing any business. Why not try a loan move for someone like Jaas-klan Hunterlaar whos desperate for first team football in the World Cup Year?
Villa get Wolves in FA Cup
We are already on the way to Wembley in the League Cup, wouldnt it be nice to be going twice in one season? Well why not? Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool all out, so why can’t we win the domestic double?
Home wins over Blackburn and Brighton see us sitting pretty, and surely one of the favourites but we have to remember Chelsea, Man City and Spurs won’t be easy. And then theres Stoke and Birmingham City who are on good runs at the moment.
Here is the draw in full:
Wolves/Crystal Palace v ASTON VILLA
Man City v Stoke City
Derby v Birmingham City
Bolton v Tottenham/ Leeds
Chelsea v Cardiff City
Fulham v Notts COunty
Reading v WBA
Southampton v Portsmouth
