Ashley Young signed for Aston Villa for a deal worth around £9.75million on the 23rd January 2007. He played his debut 8 days later against Newcastle United also getting on the scoresheet.

The Villa faithfall got to see just what hes all about towards the end of the 2006-2007 campaign, and showed them there is much more to come.

Legends including Tony Morley have praised Ashley and tipped him for very big things in the future.

Before Aston Villa

Ashley Young was originally turned away by Watford but was soon later offered a deal after showing a lot of promise.

He was given his first team debut by Ray Lewington in 2003 when he came on as a substitute and went on to score against Milwall.

International

In February 2006, Ashley Young was given his first England U-21 call up by coach at the time Peter Taylor.

He went on to play in the U-21 European Championships in the summer of 2007.
