Martin Laursen signed for Aston Villa on May 21, 2004 from Italian champions at the time AC Milan. Having winning silverware with the Italians he was only ever really considered as a reliable backup to Italian legend Paulo Maldini, and Alessandro Nesta.
Laursen has had a frustrating time at Villa park since his move due to a knee injury that has gave him problems throughout his whole career.
However, the 2007-2008 season as so far let the Villa fans see the best of Martin Laursen as he had made the center back position his own.
Before Aston Villa.

Martin Laursen began his professional career with Danish outfit Silkeborg IF where he had three successful seasons helping them to come runners up in his second season.
He then moved on to Italian Serie B team, Hellas Verona where in his first season missed the majority of the games due to his knee problems, but established himself in his second season.
Parma, who also co-owned his contract brought Verona's part of the players contract and after just 3 weeks at the club was picked up by AC Milan for £8.7million.
International.
Martin Laursen made his debut for Denmark in March 2000 against Portugal. He was also part of the Denmark Euro 2000 squad but didnt play due to his injury problems.
He made a real break through at the 2002 World Cup when he featured in all 4 of Denmarks games. He also helped them qualify for Euro 2004.
In November 2006, the Danish defender got his first call up in one and half years due to injury for the national team, but then once again withdrew due to injury.
