Zat Knight signed for Villa on August 27, 2007 on a 4 year deal with his hometown club. He stated his joy at signing for his hometown club and the club he supported as a boy. The deal cost Aston Villa £3.5million.

He made his debut for Villa against Chelsea in 2-0 win even scoring his first goal for the club.

Zat Knight signed for Fulham in 1999 from amateur football club Olympic Rushall in exchange for 30 track-suits.

Zat went on to make 150 appearance for Fulham scoring 4 goals. He was arguably Fulham's most consistent player in the 2006-07 season, a reward for this being given temporary captaincy of the club while regular skipper Luís Boa Morte was out injured.

International.

He made his England debut on May 28 , 2005 as a substitute against the United States in a friendly match. He gained his second cap in a friendly against Colombia on May 31.
