Craig Gardner was offered to play for rivals Birmingham City when he was younger but turned them down due to his family being avid Aston Villa supporters. And was then picked up by Aston Villa as a youngster.
Craig made his debut on December 26, 2005 when he replaced Steven Davis against Everton. He went on to score his first goal in a 3-1 win over Middlesbrough in April 2006.
Gardner is a massive favourite at Villa Park due to his love of the club and his detirmination.

Craig Gardner broke into the England u-21 setup in 2007 under Stuart Pearce. He has so far gone on to represent his country at this level a further 3 times.
