Scott Carson signed for Aston Villa on a year's long loan deal from Liverpool. Carson has fastly become a popular figure at Villa Park and now fans and players alike are calling for the goalkeeper to become a permanent fixture at the club.

Since joining Villa Scott has not only broken into the England senior side but he also made his first appearance in a forgettable debut against Croatia.

Before Aston Villa.

Scott's professional career began at Leeds United. His first appearance for the club came in a schoolboy tournament in Dublin in 2000. He made a instant impact and was touted as a future England number 1.

Despite impressing, Leeds didn't actually sign Carson until a further two years later in July 2002. He spent less than a season in the academy and half a season in the reserve side before being called upon to make his senior debut.

He made his senior debut for Leeds against Middlesbrough on January 2004 after current first team goalkeeper Paul Robinson was sent off. He then went on to make his first team debut just two weeks later in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United. When first team goalkeeper Robinson left Elland Road, Scott had a perfect chance to make the number one spot his own, until the signing of Neil Sullivan kept him on the bench.

Clubs soon noticed Carson's ability and soon enough Liverpool brought him for just £1million in January 2005. He became then manager Rafael Benitez's first English signing since taking over at Liverpool. At the age of just 19 he went on to make his debut in a defeat against Newcastle United, in March 5 2005. He then went on to make his first Uefa Champions League appearance on April 4 the same year in a victory over Italian giants Juventus.

In March 2006 he was sent out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday to gain some first team experience. He went on to make 9 appearances, only losing one game and helping Wednesday avoid relegation.

On August 4 2006, it was announced that he would spend the season on loan at Charlton to further improve him as a player. Despite Charlton getting relegated that season he made 36 appearances for the club and was named Charlton's player of the season for the 2006-2007 season.

International.

Carson made his debut for the England u-21 side at the age of 18, against the Netherlands in February 2004. He went on to represent the u-21 side 28 times - a record at the time.

He made his full England debut in a friendly against Austria on 16 November 2007 where he kept a clean sheet. In his competitive debut against Croatia on 21 November 2007 , he conceded three goals as England were defeated and eliminated from Euro 2008 , Carson being at fault for the first goal.
