Patrik Berger signed for Aston Villa on a free transfer when he left Portsmouth and signed a two year deal. His first season was hampered with injury and then a reported bust up with manager Martin O'Neill sore him be loaned out to Stoke City.

While out on loan at Stoke he regained his fitness and on his return to Aston Villa he set out to win his place back in the first team.

On April 7 2007, he scored his first goal for Villa against Blackburn and began to show the form we all come to expect from Patrik Berger.

 

Before Aston Villa.

Patrik Berger signed for Slavia Prague from rivals Sparta in 1991-1992 season. He then moved on to Borussia Dortmund in 1995, and he helped them to win the Bundesliga title in his first season there.

After impressing at Euro 96, Liverpool decided to purchace the Czech for £3.25million and he made a instant impact in the premier league. His only problem being injuries meaning he was in and out of the team.

In the 2002-2003 season he played just four games for Liverpool and they decided not to renew his contract so he signed for Portsmouth on a free transfer where he refound the kind of form that made him so popular with all fans he has been.

 

International.

Patrik Berger has played 40 games for his country, scoring 18 goals. He helped them progress to the final of Euro 96 only to lose to winners Germany.

He also featured in World Cup 98 and Euro 2000.
