Jed Steer began his career at Norwich City where he was picked up as a 9 year old. He was spotted playing in goal and was initially invited for a trial before being offered a contract. Steer signed his first professional contract 8 years later at the age of 17.

After saving a penalty in the third round of  2010-11 FA Youth Cup his coach Ricky Martin described him as the best u-18 goalkeeper in the country.

In July 2011 the goalkeeper joined Yeovil Town on a three month loan deal and despite playing 12 games for The Glovers his loan was cut short due to a thigh injury.

The following season he went on loan again, this time to Cambridge United on a 1 month deal. He made four appearances for the U’s.

Jed made his first team debut for Norwich on 28 January 2012, in a fourth round FA Cup 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

It was announced on 26 June 2013 that Jed Steer would link up with former manager Paul Lambert at Aston Villa on July 1st as a free agent after his contract had run out at Norwich City.

Steer then went on to make his first team debut while on a pre-season tour of Germany when he played for 45 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Sv Rödinghausen.
