Despite snow in the area the game kicked of in the winter sun, with the Villa fans making all the noise. Villa went with the same side as we predicted that started in mid-week against Arsenal.
All the talk before this game was all about how Villa have failed to score in the past four games, and havent won in any of those four either, but as i said time and time again, look at the fixtures and you can see why. Playing Arsenal twice and a game with Liverpool in there – the reports forget to mention these though dont they?
Villa took the lead today on 39 minutes when Petrov crosses the ball into the Fulham area, and Gabby Agbonlahor beat Chris Smalling in the air and heads it towards the Fulham goal, and despite hitting directly at Mark Schwarzer, the power of the header gives Villa the lead.
Gabby’s second of the afternoon, is defernatly one worth seeing on Match of the Day tonight. Carlos Cuellar played the ball into Agbonlahor, who turns Hangeland on the edge of the box and side foots it into the Fulham net for his twelve goal of the season.
Fulham nearly got a goal back when David Elm sneaked in behind Luke Young and fired past Brad Friedel only for it to be ruled out for offside.
Despite Fulham having chances to score, and denied by some wonderful saves from veteran keeper Brad Friedel, Villa defernatly deserved all three points and they will now be looking forward to taking on Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
I don’t usually mention chants but one the Villa fans sung today made me chuckle. Sung to the Fulham fans after the goal was ruled offside: “You only sing when your offside”.
