Skyba 246
Barry 34 starts last season, Milner 29 starts last season, that's not counting coming off the bench, pretty instrumental in my eyes. Just being on the pitch doesn't make them instrumental, downing has played a fair few games for Liverpool this season but would you say his 0 goals 0 assists was instrumental. Lol When you think of man city's season balotelli, silva, aguero, kompany, hart are all names that would come to your mind way before Milner and Barry. Also morrattled i don't project anything onto Liverpool, it's my opinion. Liverpool have been poor and without making champions league this season or the next your sugar daddy yanks won be able to keep going as they have been with the investment. 2 seasons ago would you have said villa would be fighting for their prem lives?? You may not see it as you're a Liverpool fan but Liverpool are as far from the top 4 as we are. Neither of us have a hope in hell. When I was just a little boy i asked my mother what shall i beee. Shall i be villa shall i be blues, Here's what she said to me...... YOU KNOW THE REST

Seriously.....? 11 players are instrumental in any team...based on your argument...Gabby scored 5 goals and assisted in others..however, he wasn't a name that stood out. Therefore he wasn't instrumental in our season. Barry scored 3 and so did Milner, that puts them on par with Gabby....therefore if you think Gabby was instrumental, that makes Barry and Milner instrumental. As for the Liverpool thing, I agree with you, just because they have a heritage doesn't make them invincible...History dictates that...We (Villa) found ourselves in the old 3rd division, Leeds Utd downfall is legendary,as are many other clubs. Liverpool because of the name are not adverse to falling from grace. when your up to your nuts in alligators...It's hard to concentrate and remember your initial task was to drain the swamp

I've never said gabby was instrumental in our season also you can't really have instrumental players in a team that just scrape relegation, my argument about gabby is that he is better than people give him credit for and that he is capable of much more than we've seen in the last 2 seasons. I've said gabby has been poor. And IMO Barry and Milner were far from instrumental. If Milner and Barry played 0 games I doubt man city would have done any worse than they did. I'm not turning this into a Gabby is great or crap thread. All I was saying is Milner and Barry were instrumental over the last 2 seasons. In a squad all players are instrumental, even Carrol was instrumental in Liverpools season and in Englands win against Sweden. All players are instrumental in any teams plans. To say they are not is ludicrous. when your up to your nuts in alligators...It's hard to concentrate and remember your initial task was to drain the swamp

Well that's your opinion. to be instrumental for me you have to play a key role and be a player that is a reason for the success which IMO Milner and Barry were neither for Citeh. You don't hear people say that a certain player was instrumental in the success of a club just for turning up When I was just a little boy i asked my mother what shall i beee. morerattled 61
sugar daddy? zero investment in playing staff out of their own pockets fella
Skyba 246
sugar daddy? zero investment in playing staff out of their own pockets fella That's a ridiculous statement. Just becuse they haven't actually said here you go here's 100m for signings, how much money was freed up from them clearing the clubs debts and putting money into other parts of the club. That's like Lerner saying I'll buy everyone's season ticket for them and then all the revenue from season ticket sales can be used as transfer sounds hence meaning Lerner had invested no money in transfers. morerattled 61
they bought an undervalued asset for the debt purchase price. suggar daddys are the russian and citys royal family who spend more money than the club earns. show me credible evidence to back up your suggar daddy statement
JustRich 103
A sugar daddy is usually considered as someone who buys the club and pumps a lot of cash into it in an attempt to change the clubs fortunes. Regardless of whether it is cold hard cash or loans

Barry is a key member of Mancinis team, hence the reason he has started so many games in the prem(which they won) ur opinion to whether you think whatever but if you were to ask Mancini he would say he is vital to that team
