Anbody thought the timing of Lambert's sacking not only coincides with the TV Deal but also outside of the Jan window? Lerner penny pinching again?

Yes i did, especially the January window part as i suspect Lerner would have had a pretty good idea about the TV package anyway.

Thanks to Lambert for some very shrewd signings he brought to the Club during his time and for some of the most enjoyable wins ( and horrible losses ) along the way.

It was a job that turned out to be just too big for him in the end.

A new chapter begins.

AVFC.

Was left to rot under a clueless owner and should've been sacked multiple times over based on performance. He'll never be looked at as a good manager for Villa, but if things turn around, I think some will see that he had a decent eye for talent and those signings could be the ones that keep us in the prem. He just couldn't manage/lead them.

Update, 26/12/2015.

Whatever the truth or otherwise regarding Paul Lambert's statement below, I cannot but think that we would already be worse off if Paul Lambert had stayed at AVFC.

Skysports - Aston Villa are worse off since I left, says Paul Lambert

We wouldn't even be in the premier league had he not been sacked

Probably not but we will never know that for sure. We all know the problems at VP run far deeper than the manager.

PL looked ill his last few months here from the stress of it all, Sherwood got that same look even sooner.

Lambert apart from Benteke (even considering the limited funding available to him) hung himself by his purchases in the transfer market. He compounded that further with his tactics.

Probably along with Sherwood and Mcleish one of the worst managers ever to set foot inside Villa Park!
