I doubt there is much wrong with Guzan, maybe a slight tweak but I bet the for the most part he just doesn't fancy going half way around the world for a couple of friendlies when he could stay here an

I would rather he just concentrate on his recovery and aim for next season really

I would say this is right but dependent on the needs of the team at the time he is declared fit to play!

I worry that Vlaar is still out for Stoke and will return who knows when

Likewise, each small meanness, each expression of hatred, each act of evil.”

I thought okore was out for 9 months?
I don't think a time scale was ever mentioned. Was just ruled out for the season because of the seriousness of the injury.

vlaars injuries do tend to go on for a while.

I think he had a calf injury last christmas...that took him out for a while.

and it coincided with our dramatic collapse!

If he is declared 100% fit before the end of the season then give him a bit of game time if we are in desperate need but if not we should let him build up for next season. Liek Stu said if you are rushed back from these injuries more then likely you will suffer it again

6 months is normal timeframe and safe for return to play. i would expect professional athletes to be back at that point but this is only a guideline. obviously 'match fitness' will take longer. He shouldn't be at risk if declared 'fit' to return at 6 months by the medical staff. You specifically do functional testing to see if/when a player is ready for return to sport regardless of timeframe. and any player will not be allowed back until they pass this functional testing-this will depend on the individual and could be 6 months for some more for others. As with any surgery a certain small percentage will recur regardless of whether they are off for 6, 9, or 12 months. so there is no point wrapping everyone up in cotton wool. in fact you are doing a player a disservice if he is ready to get back playing at 6 months and you hold him back til 9 months 'just in case'.

also it depends if it was just an isolated ACL injury. As with a lot of players we're not exactly given too much detail publicly. So a fair amount of players will also have a meniscal repair along with the reconstruction, and the rehab for this will be a bit more cautious moreso to protect the meniscal repair. Bottom line is he won't be rushed back unsafely. he will go through stringent testing to clear him for return to sport. And hopefully he is not one of the small minority who will recur.

Typical recovery time for a ACL is 6 months providing recovery goes to plan.

What kinda docs you guys got over there? 6 months on an ACL? Never see that sh*t on this side of the pond. Adrian Peterson (handegger for NFL Vikings) is considered superhuman for coming back in 9. Derek Rose (NBA Chicago Bulls) has lost more than a year.

I agree with AK, f*ck this season and make sure your good to go for 2014-15.
