Everton is always a tough match, home or away. I agree in dropping Bent, especially after today's showing........or no-showing in his case. We play much more as a team when he is out. Put him on the bench. Use him as a sub since he doesnt show the work rate to be effective for 90 min.

Everton at the moment are a mirror for Villa and vis versa! both struggling with finances, both underacheiving and hovering more or less around each other in the table so far, if we are going to finish mid table then they are a major rival to that end and we need to win! lets hope is a nice calm evening as far as the weather is concened eh?

Would defo play Bent

Why? He is not doing well, gabby better upfront and nzogbia been playing better the last few weeks.

Don't agree with this gabby upfront business on his own, we proved that doesn't work against Chelsea, he's better on the wing or upfront as a 2!

we should be playing Gabby and Bent up front as a 2, (especially at home)give them time and a good run of games together so they can learn each others style and positioning more and i am sure they could make a deadly parnerships in the prem. When was the last time we had a good front 2? Deano & Dalian?

I agree with Gabby playing a loan striker role might not be the best choice, but I do agree that Bent should be dropped after his last performance. Maybe we should keep the suggested team by #lukedaw above but play Stephen Ireland just behind Gabby in a holding strikers role. That would give Gabby the support he needs, and then bring Bent on as a sub if all fails.

Any fixture involving Villa and Everton is a good one so let's hope Saturday is no different. I would like to see something creative in midfield with a Bannan/Ireland combo.

Gabby is useless upfront as he just cant trouble strikers having the ball hoofed up to him. He needs to be on the wing. Bent is all about goals even if he aint scoring atm he will score goals

i wasn't too sure on the arrival of keane, but having thought about it, he is well experienced in the prem and he has very good link up play, he could help develop what we have and be the link we have needed.

I have been looking at our fixtures for the next 2 months, most of them are very winable against teams around us in the league, so i guess anything that can help is good by me.

Its funny how last year so many moaned abut Gabby on the wing and now it seems people cant seem him playing else where anymore.... They are of course right  He is not ment to be a loan striker, needs to be in a 4-4-2 or even a 4-1-2-1-2

----------------Petrov-------------

---Bannan----------------Nzogbia

----------------Ireland-----------

------Bent--------------Gabby-----

Said it from day 1 he was a better winger as his composure in front of goal is pretty poor

That formation will not work with Petrov in the team though as he is not good enough to protect the back four

Would go for this against Everton

Guzan

Hutton Collins Dunne Warnock

Petrov Clark

Albrighton Ireland Gabby

Bent

N'Zogbia really needs to work on his defensive work as he does not help the full backs, Gabby needs to play where he has been most effective this season

2-1 Villa

Have you forgot how well Gabby done upfront on his own a few seasons ago?! Also we won when playing gabby upfront on his own against Chelsea.

So now 1 game up front and we should forget all the good he;s done out wide for us this season? lol

hmmm also very 'loseable too'...as for half fit Keane, maybe play him behind gabby? Bent has dissapeared recently. He'll be off in the summer for sure anyway.

Have to agree with lukedaw. We played with gabby as the lone striker in a 451 formation a few seasons back and had a really good set of results, when we moved moved away from this and things weren't so good the fans were calling for the 451 formation to return.

I would much prefer gabby to be making his runs through the middle and not so much down the wings.

Everton have to take on Spurs midweek so we do have the advantage of the lads being better rested!

yeah true, but if they get a result at spurs they will be buzzing and come to ours with their tails up knowing we are shakey at home and knowing if they were to beat us they would put space between them and us.

What im hoping though is that spurs bash the bollocks out of them and they come to ours physically and mentally shattered, then we bash them also. lol
