forevaavillan1 138
The "FACT" of the matter belwo is that Yeung don't have no money, and indeed he has sold Uefa a dud un again, I am sure that Football as a whole is just burying its head in the sand. Yeung only passed Uefa's financial test by introducing a third party g/tee that the club could meet its debt's etc, how the hell did a third parties gtee get accepted would be my first question. :furious: Tuesday May 17,2011 By John Wragg Have your say(0) BIRMINGHAM owner Carson Yeung is warning there will be little money to spend on players next season with the club facing relegation. It would be a disastrous plunge into the Championship for Yeung, who has already had to pump in money this season amid worries the club’s finances are not sound. Birmingham have passed UEFA’s financial test to play in the Europa League next season but Yeung, who bought Birmingham for £57million 19 months ago, said: “We are going to look to improve the infrastructure and the squad but that does not mean we will just haphazardly pump loads of money into things. “Fans may feel frustrated but I’m sure they understand that safeguarding the long-term future of the club while making sure the supporters watch the best possible football is the most important thing. “My right-hand man, Peter Pannu, had indicated all along that we were never troubled about getting the UEFA licence. He was spot-on and hopefully that will end the speculation about our finances. We are going to look to improve the infrastructure and the squad but that does not mean we will just haphazardly pump loads of money into things Carson Yeung “There has been a lot of talk about whether there will be extra resources for the Europa League. This is normal as the zest and zeal will normally mean there will be a call for more money for Europe. “Heading into Europe is great for the club, but we do have to be realistic.” Yeung, who flew in from Hong Kong for the shock home defeat by Fulham, pointed out the new UEFA financial rules for the season 2012-13 will impact on all clubs, making sure they spend within their means. “We have to start now,” said Yeung. “It is a challenging time for Peter Pannu and his team and the backroom staff. However, we will prevail and please take it in good spirit as it is not an excuse for me to stall my financial support.” Veteran striker Kevin Phillips, who has still to discuss a new contract, said Sunday’s final game of the season at Spurs is worth £90m to the club. Birmingham are only out of the bottom three on goal difference and need at least to match what Wigan (away to Stoke) and Blackpool (away to Manchester United) do to stay up. Phillips, 37, has been relegated twice in his long career and is facing an unwanted hat-trick. “They talk about the play-off final being worth £90m, but there are three Premier League games next week worth as much,” said Phillips. “We know what we have to do. I have been in this situation a couple of times and we need the experienced players to come to the front and everyone to perform at White Hart Lane.” Birmingham have won only twice in 11 games since the Carling Cup victory at Wembley that took them into the Europa League. “You have to be careful what you say in these situations but we are bitterly disappointed because we felt being the home team against Fulham, with a full crowd, that we could have got something,” said Phillips. “The pressure is on. We have to show what we are made of. We believe we can go to Spurs and get the result we need. Our goal difference is better than the others and during the Fulham game we were getting that message on the pitch towards the end, ‘Don’t concede any more’. “It’s effectively three play-off finals with Wigan, Blackpool and us involved. “Of course it will take away the glory of winning the League Cup if we go down. Our bread and butter is the Premier League. It’s not just for the club, it’s for every individual, for their careers. “I’ve been relegated twice from the Premier League and it’s not nice. It has a knock-on effect on everyone. We know that, we are not daft.” Manager Alex McLeish said: “We are in a dogfight. It has come down to one game. The stakes are enormous and we know the consequences of going out of the Premier League
