EFL1 (Championship), Saturday 13/04/2019 : Aston Villa 2-1 Bristol City

With the news that Jack Grealish was out due to illness, Twitter was full of doomsayers. Fortunately they have been confounded and AVFC win 8 in a row. More importantly, this win has put 4 points between us and Bristol City.
Per the SSN Live Commentary the attempts (including goals) were 8-4 & 15-7 = 23-11 to AVFC.

Attendance : 41,418 (SSN)

After this result AVFC's total Form Points rose from 74 to 76 ... that is, points after 46 games.
The maximum available remains 81 points, with 12 points left to play for.
AVFC stay above par and are 5th in the table, with 69 points and GD at +19 from 42 games.

Deano said on WM that Jack was ill and devastated not to play and that Kodjia had a bang in the ribs and not fully fit,

their keeper O,Leary made several outstanding saves, otherwise we would have had 6 he was applauded off the pitch and got a consolation handshake from J.T.

Great atmosphere --its a fine fine sight Villa Park rammed to the rafters,

all the boyz done well --thought El Ghazi was dynamite--Whelan given the arm band had a real captains game,Jedi stood in well, and Taylor had a good game overall one tackle late on on Weimann in our box was timed to perfection---nice one Neil lad,-Hourihane could have had 4 and i reckon he scored the most difficult chance, SJM was again a powerhouse running running and running----loved it in the 6 minutes extra time???? wtf did that come from,-? when he cut into the box then ran out to the bye line and won a throw in--Davis did exceptionally well held the ball up well and could so easily have banged one in,

not impressed with Bristol,s constant whinging moaning and poor games manship---Taylor put the ball out for Tammy to get treatment and then be taken off---they kept the ball from the ensuing throw and mounted an attack! !  the number10 Matty Taylor was constantly in the refs ear ,booked for a bad tackle and eventually replaced before being sent off,and wtf was Lee Johnson whinging about?  resulting in a chant from The Holte of---"Terry Terry knock him out"

So another Saturday night not ruined---well done The Boyz In Claret and Blue, well done Deano and the coaching staff,

VTID-----------------

biggest home attendance of the season 4th time exceeding 40,000 and 7 more than previous highest v Leeds 41,411 thats blinking brilliant---

After today I'm genuinely confident we'll score 4 past Bolton next week. That result feels even better now as grealish Mings and Hause got some deserved rest. Love that keinan did well to, wish he scored that chance after overpowering the defender to get a shot on goal. He could be a really big player next year if we're in this league.

Excellent result, we are going to have to f*ck up spectacularly now to not finish top 6.

What a result. The lads really stepped up when many of us worried with both Jack and Mings missing.

Taylor and El Ghazi were fantastic yesterday. Possibly both of their best games in a Villa shirt.

I loved how Smith had a plan and we went through El Ghazi so much and he didn't disappoint. Either of them were my MOTM
