Aston Villa 3-3 Sheffield United

Recommended Posts

As much as I'm happy and they battled in that second half, the first was that bad I'm getting bored of them performances. Either way, fair play to the lads and I still ain't anti Dean Smith. UTV

If we can play every game like the last 20 mins, we'd walk this league. Too many journey men in our squad.

taylor, hourihane, hutton, jedinak, whelan.....fck em all off

My point exactly!

it’s a joke having Terry near the training pitch as the way we concede goals is f**cking criminal!!

So why employ him?

and really can’t see what game DS was watching??

we were the better team for 8 minutes.

Does a good spin post and pre match!

You spin me right round baby right round,I chat the same old bollox right round round round!

Lucky tonight very f**kin lucky!

Thought Whelan actually changed the game today.  Jedinak was terrible, an absolutely atrocious all round performance.  Gave the ball away sooo many times it was ridiculous.  Thought Whelan actually got the ball and played it to his his own team at least!  Also thought Hourihane had a decent game, not great but don't think he did too much wrong.  Hutton, Taylor and Jedi I completely agree with you, all terrible tonight.

Not a great performance at all but to come back from 3 down with 10 minutes left HAS to give us a massive boost for the extremely difficult fixtures we have coming up.  If it doesn't then I don't know what will.

We have to improve all round.

what was that------?? total garbage for 80 minutes----could,nt string a pass together 3 or 4 hit straight into touch, high balls from Hutton aimed crossfield to El Ghazi / Kodjia easily intercepted by a 5ft RB??  one shot in the first half --not playing as a team at all,too many too many journeymen already on the beach.

2nd half not much better---their second goal should have been disallowed on 2 counts---go 0-3 down, Green and Whelan on for 2 worst players on the pitch Kodjia and Jedi  then we play some dam good stuff score 3 and have a blatant penalty right under the refs nose refused,!!

why oh why cant we play like that last 10 minutes from the start---??  real pleased for Green Tammy and Mings  a special mention to McGinn for his dogged persistance----

was contemplating leaving at 75 mins  was so pi****d off but real glad i stuck it out,

seems like a win --how crazy is that,?

have to say i thought Whelan did well when he came on---Jedi was so so off the pace it was shocking should have been replaced after 10 minutes-- broke up several of our attacks with woeful passing--was he even half fit?

i hope that ref dont ever grace us with his presence again!!!! totally inept--gave us a free kick, their nearest player to the ball boots it to one of their defenders who in turn hoofs it into the crowd----not one word or booking??????

at least the weekend aint totally ruined ---now Villa please kick on from here,

Can only echo some of the above comments. Whelan was excellent when he came on. Got the lads going, passed and moved and set the tone when he clattered Basham if I'm not mistaken. Credit where it's due, doesn't have a full 90mins  in him but easy to see why throughout his career managers consistently like him.

Hopefully this is a turning point for the season. So much to worry about in the manner we were 3-0 down at home but we showed great character to come back. I actually thought Hourihane was influential in the comeback as well, whipped a few brilliant balls in and competed for the 50-50's so again credit where it's due.

You need a few tough f*ckers in this league and it's something that has really annoyed me the last few seasons how easily we got bullied by teams but Mings looks to have been a really good signing and gives us some physical presence.

Still so unsure what to make of Smith but we have to stick with him.

"This is not possible. What McGrath is doing is just not possible with the amount of preparation that he's had."

I was embarrassed at the final whistle, I stayed  until the end and it was like we won the world cup!!!!

FFS we just drew a game that we should of lost.

I hear all the time how we ARE ASTON VILLA PREMIER LEAGUE CLUB in the championship. We should on those terms rip this division up but we aint, why cause were sh*t. Poor leadership from the Dr Xia days, poor management form post O'neill days,. After O'Neill got us to 6th consistently  we've had Houllier who no fault of his own had health issues but we finished well under Mcallister, Mcdoodal say no more, Lambert fans choice based on last game away at Norwich when the fans sang his name, Sherwood who in my opinion should of had the rest of the season, Remi Garde who no one ever heard of other than a few token appearances for Arsenal, RDM who got the job based on chelsea winning champions league (wasnt his team), Bruce who I thought was best manager to get out of this division and then Dean Smith who I said back in september if you want championship football he's our man, if the ambition is PL then look elswhere.

The point is we get over excited and were over ambitious, were a ONE man team and since WBA away we have not been the same with one man being the difference. With the squad we have we should be able to cope with out jack, maybe play both Abraham and Kodja upfront together. 6 points away from from playoffs its season over for me, please tell me i'm wrong. If we get promoted i will pay £500 into Acorns.
