New coach arrives

During director of football Steve Round's interview with Villa's official website yesterday, he confirmed that experienced coach Brian Eastick has joined the club to work within the academy.

Eastick has bags of experience and has worked abroad and at England youth level.

"Brian Eastick has also joined us," Round said. "He is an outstanding coach educator, coach developer - and an excellent coach himself, to help Sean Kimberley in the academy. Between them, they are now implementing the Villa Engine - the mentality we want all the way through the youth groups.

"They then get passed on to Mark Delaney and Kevin MacDonald in the U23s to bridge that gap between performance and winning because the first team is about winning.

"That prepares the players for some of the hardships of having to go out and play in the demanding competitive environment of first team football - and win when it really matters - and then through to the first team. All the way through the club, it should be mirrored.
