never heard of him ,,,,,,we are being linked with hundreds of players lately

Aston Villa are set to lose Christian Benteke to Liverpool in the coming days, and they have found the striker they want to replace him, according to CalcioMercato.

The Italian media outlet have claimed that Villa have set their sights on Diego Rolan, currently playing withBordeaux in the French Ligue 1.

They are said to be preparing an offer for the striker, 22, who has also been linked with one of Villa’sPremier League rivals - Newcastle United.

The Chronicle claimed last month that the Magpies were set to be offered Rolan this summer transfer window, and although they have already signed Aleksandar Mitrovic to lead the attacking ranks for next season, another striker would not go amiss at St James’ Park.

However, Villa are more likely to be an attractive option for Rolan, as he would be guaranteed almost consistent first-team football due to the lack of top quality striker when Benteke leaves the club.

Who is Diego Rolan?

Rolan, 22, is a Uruguyan international striker, who currently plays in Ligue 1 with Bordeaux. Prior to his move to France in 2013, he had played for Defender in his homeland, having progressed through their youth academy.

He has netted 18 goals in 74 games for Bordeaux, and Rolan’s 2014/15 season was the one in which the young forward rose to international prominence. 15 goals in 36 league fixtures earned him his first caps for Uruguay, and he is now a consistent fixture in their senior squad - with five caps bringing a return of one goal.
