ty for that post mate. DONT READ THIS POST IF U HAVENT SEEN THE SHOW AND CARE TO WATCH IT!!! (SPOILERS) but the problem i feel with that street is not the actual benefits, its the education, we have a similar thing here 5mins from where i live and the folks in it seem to blame the system but apart from white D in the particular programme, everyone else was trying to do somethin dodgey to get cash. the 2 lads shop lifting and selling fake big issues, black d with her iphone and smoking a joint and saying she cant pay her rent, the red head and her bf gettin caught for benefit fraud, if u really wanna look into it, even the 50p is actually breaking the law. while i do feel sorry for the folks that were on this show, i just cant help that 4od went to the ends of the uk to find these folks to make a good tv show. im sure theres worse scenarios but realisticly these ppl arent gonna get better in prison or by white D until they decide to help themselves. a strong part of me has no sympathy even though i see that current situation on my doorstep day in day out
I f**cking don't feel sorry for them. Not one was ill, all them lazy fuckers are doing is taking money away from those who deserve it. I you stop the scrounges there is more for the needy, that's what the benefit system was made for.

^^^^ This ^^^^ I've tried to avoid dipping into the thread as it can easily be interpreted as racist to suggest that the country is full. Trouble is it is full…and breaking down. No matter

so many claimants suffer and have their benefits reduced while the problem of fraud is relatively small. I understand money needs to be found to reduce debt. plenty of other areas to exploit before so

the landlords take the p*ss with high rent putting more strain on the benefit system

Smoke spliff sand don't pay your rent !!!

That's the sort of thing that winds me up.

Even if benefit frauds are in the minority, I will never understand that mentality or the sheer lack of anything even remotely resembling shame.

If you don't have it, you don't spend it. One of the best lessons my parents ever taught me.

I accept lots of people are genuinely struggling (none of them seen in 'Benefits Street') and it's awful for them but sitting on your hole drinking lager and smoking dope won't help. You don't need to be Einstein to figure that much out, surely?

Hear hear +1 for you as well. I get no money at all from the government, bens family allowance was stopped last year and I pay more tax than the average wage. Yesterday I left for work at 07-00 and got back tonight at 23-00, why should half my salary go to people who sit on their arses all day ?

Thing is no effort is being out into stopping scroungers all the effort is being out into cutting benefit for all so the many suffer for the few once again.

I agree there should be done about people who just don't want to work but I I they should be rehabilitated and shown what's out there if you work hard, I was shown that by my parents as my dad had his own company and did well, some people aren't that lucky and now you have a generations who have never seen what it's like to achieve as they have been brought up in the culture, instead of attacking them why not help them. Someone goes to prison we try to make them better, someone is ill we make them better, someone is brought up with this mindset and we just decide they should be punished.

Before the Tories got in there were so many back to work schemes, I was helped by A4e, they gave me a disability specialist and helped me look into work, I volunteered for it but if you were on the dole for x amount of time it was compulsory, as soon as the new government came in it was the first thing to go, all the centers closed and all they talk about now is taking the money away if they're not forced to do jobs for free!! If the works there pay them to do it!!!

like i said a strong part of me has no sympathy even though i see that current situation on my doorstep day in day out, but these ppl are human and i honestly think that alot has to do with upbringing too, prolly generations of living on the scratch.

when i was in secondary school, and it was a comprehensive school which was fairly rough, i was considered posh because of my accent and while i was floating around in my shite shoes from pennys, these folks that parents have no jobs were going around with gold chains soverign rings and nike air max....

like a heroin addict i do believe addiction is a sickness, also not been able to see the bigger picture and having a hunger to better urself or ur family could be prolly one to ?

education is a massive factor i believe

Here here,,, I remember my last house cost me an arm and a leg as me and wife both have decent jobs. I am a production manager and wife a teacher so both work hard. When my wife had our second child she rang me at work one day when it was snowing telling me the kids want to go out and play with me up Hednesford hills on the sledge. As I was stacked out at work I couldn't take any time off. This proper upset Deb as she was just looking out of the window of our new house purchased off plan and all she could see were the dossiers on the dole and benefits out all day snowball fighting and basically having a fantastic time. Where was I ? Yes grafting at work and my children were missing out. scum bags the lot of them. These people were openly bragging that they had been given new houses next door to my house that I had to break my balls to get. The best though was when she was off on maternity all she saw every day were deliveries from Next and all kinds of mail order people dropping goods off at the housing association people. Needless to say I have sold up and now live somewhere else but yes I had to take a massive drop in price to sell it as everyone knew it was flooded with housing people. Scum bags 99% of them. People who deserve benefits should get them people who are work shy lazy bastards and have no respect for society should get f*ck all

Agree it's a spiral and it's no coincidence that the lowest achievers in English schools are white British students.

Attendance is a massive issue for many and a lot of students, even the brightest, have no work ethic or parental support.

Sad really.

The education system is a whole other issue lol. Where I went to secondary the catchment areas are huge and you end up with about 300 per year and the schools aren't big enough to cover it. Also a lot of he teachers don't give a f*ck and they hold people back by linking unrelated subjects together, for example I was good at science crap at maths, when I was at school anyway. I was capable of being in the top set for science but not maths and, I blame this on a teacher who had no enthusiasm for teaching. I know you'll say kids always blame the teacher and so did my parents, until they met the pr*ck, and my parent knew I could be a little sh*t. So because the two subject me were linked together I could only do a mid exam for gcse and walked into my gcse's pretty much able to sign my name on the paper and get the top mark available to me, a C, C because I'd pretty muh got 100% on all my modulars.

When I look back at it if I hadn't been shackled like that with the maths and science I may have gone into science at college because I enjoy it but I didn't because of the a experience and dissapointment at school combined with a young mind giving up on it.

Lots of teachers in cornwal seem to be teaching because it's an easy option not because they want to teach, some we're great but a lot were very poor.

Personally I think kids in school should have something that teaches them about what they can get out of life l, school seemed so set around maths and English and not about life skills.

You have the good, the bad and the ugly in any profession but those students who want to learn will learn. I can guarantee you that from experience.

Have no idea why your maths and science would be linked. They never have been at GCSE.

It's was because the catchment area of my school covered around 20-30 miles, maybe more because it's in Fowey which covers a huge area. Due to this the high classroom numbers meant that they had to split all the years into 2 halves, then when 1 half is doing maths the other will be doing science, when one half is doing English the other half will be doing French and so on. So if you went up in maths but not in science your maths group would be in lesson the same time as you'd need to be in science.
