You don't know this though do you? All we know is the purse strings have been tightened. You said the other day that you know he's looking for a buyer so surely it would make sense that he wants to sp

It's not the outlay on transfers that's the problem. Lerner knows of he pays £1m on 17 players he knows he'll probably make that money back when they're sold. Wages are money down the drain unless you

Tonev is apparently on around 20k a week, money well spent? Redmond, Bollasie, Puncheon, Routledge, Dyer are just a few names who earn less then Tonev and are better players but Lambert doesnt want to sign players known, he wants to basically find stars which is a massive gamble as the worst thing that will happen to him is he will be sacked and find a club lower in the leagues

Purse strings have been tightened yes but we still spent more then nearly half the teams in the prem

It's not the outlay on transfers that's the problem. Lerner knows of he pays £1m on 17 players he knows he'll probably make that money back when they're sold. Wages are money down the drain unless you find a star that sells for 4 times the purchase price.

Fact of the matter is you don't know what tonev is on, you can go on the reports but lambert himself said the reports are far from accurate, at the same Time he could be talking arse and tonev could be on £30k a week, we just don't know.

And to your question on tonev I'd say yes he's worth £20k a week, he's. Not been that bad just needs some fine tuning but he's young

I think he has the foundations but he needs a fair bit of work, £20k a week for a prem player is pennies remember, as soon as a player comes to the prem their agent will expect a wage that suits regardless of the quality.

Don't buy this idea that lambert is on a mission to find the next new star all the time, he's said a few times he would love to sign the names but he doesn't have the money and the idea he'll happily ruin his career and take a huge drop in wages and work in the lower leagues it's ridiculous. That's like saying a player like lescott would happily go and play in league one just because he'll get game time.

You really need to watch games if you think Tonev is worth what he gets paid. If you also think we would get our money back from the Tonev deal if we sold him then you are crazy. He could improve but he certainly cant get any worse as he offers the team nothing. Tonev is 23 turning 24 next month, it isnt young. People really need to stop using this young term on our team. Okore is the youngest player to have played for us this season and he is 21 so its not like we are playing teenagers like Januzaj, Sterling, Gnabry, Shaw, Barkley as they are young

Lambert knew what the plan was from the start so why doesn he consistently moan about not having the money? If he managed it better then he would have had the money to spend on experienced players instead of flops like Tonev who in truth shouldnt have been bought and maybe a kid like Grealish/Graham could have been given a try as Albrighton was still here

Don't need to see any more of him, that's my opinion on him AK, fed up of you thinking you're a talent scout, he's not been great or even good by any stretch of the imagination but he's got potential and my point was not that he's good it's that £20k a week for a player in the prem is peanuts.

And the young players you're talking about above are all players who are very special talents, the type of talent that the villa cannot afford and 23/24 is still young especially if you're just coming into the prem, those players have been brought up in prem clubs, each signing has to be judged on its own merits.

We're not an attractive enough propersition and we don't have enough money to get hold of the ready made talented youngsters, people keep talking of ince and he's a decent talent and he's more likely to go to a club who's firmly in the top half than us. It's not lamberts fault that we've been in this transition, he's making the best of a bad situation.

The only reason lambert has to point out the money situation is because people have much too high expectations of what we can achieve and how quick we can achieve it and I think he's been getting quite a bit of stick lately and he's maybe trying to remind people of the situation, he hasn't why'd away from the challange but he isn't a miracle worker either.

Looking at the amazing source of twitter past couple of days Jermaine Jones (32yr old defensive mid looks a mean mdfker!) and Anthony Pilkington (25yr old winger) being mentioned.

Completely agree with Skyba on the Tonev matter. Some players take longer to settle in to a new club especially when you cant speak the native tongue. Adding the minutes he's played together, he has played just under 6 full premier league games. I don't know about you but in my eyes that's not enough time to learn how the league works. He is naive but that will wear off over time when he properly settles and when he learns his teammates tendencies.

Anyway on another note, I would love to see Wes at villa, he is out of favour at the moment might be just what we need. My mate is a die hard Norwich fan and said that he is capable of some good stuff but goes missing, which is a bit concerning, but that's what you get with the creative players.

I really like de bruyne but the problem with loan players from big club is they generally come with a high wage request, which isn't much of a problem as the owning club can help out, but also a big loan fee. Lukaku cost a reported 5 million to loan, I cant see us paying anything like that especially for a loan player let alone a permanent deal.

Aussie Villain, you would have seen plenty of the Prem as well as plenty of Tom Rogic, how do you think he'd fare? I rate him one of the best prospects out of this country in years and one who could cut it over there and be a quality AM in time.
Great player like a lot of the Aussie boys. Ange Postecoglou wants him to go to Japan to get more game time. Hopefully that will not happen and he recovers from injury to establish himself in the Celtic side. It's a pity Jacob Burns of Perth Glory is too old. That is the type of fight Villa need in the middle of the park.
