  1. Chelsea have told German club Wolfsburg it will cost £25 million to sign out-of-favour Kevin De Bruyne on a permanent deal this month. The Telegraph. Looks like he ain't coming to Villa with that price tag. If Lambert does go for a striker I think he would do okay looking at Charlie Austin. Basically scores every second game.
  2. Spot on. We don't need strikers. We have enough either at the club or out on loan. Midfield and defence are our weak points. If Vlarr is not fully match fit he needs backup.
  3. Totally agree with you. If the middle of the park is weak how can the forwards get the service they need. Strong midfield and creativity and the strikers will perform. If Gabby was given better service he would have scored more goals. It's difficult when you are trying to cover midfield as well as run through the opposition defence.
  4. Good luck mate. Nice start towards your million.
  5. Now your talking. If Lambert gets De Bruyne, then I will believe he is serious in making Villa a quality side. I bet Benteke will be happy as well. Maloney is a good player, but not great. Would be a better option than some in the team at present. Scored some good free kicks. Scott Parker is still a quality fighter with at least 2 years left in him.
  6. Here is a list of my possible transfers that would help stop the rot. Micah Richards/Man City - Big strong defender who can play anywhere at the back and is creative. Martin Skrtel/Liverpool - Solid out of favour defender Thomas Vermaelen/Arsenal - Solid out of favour defender Anderson/Man Utd - Never really made it at Utd. But could do a lot better at Villa with youngsters around him. Nani/Man Utd - I don't like his attitude but can show some magical touches of brilliance. Hernandez/Man Utd - I believe he could be a goal scoring machine Kevin de Bruyne/Chelsea - Definite player of the future.
  7. I have thought this for a while. Benteke will be sold - probably to Athletico Madrid.
  8. I read that Swansea had 76% of the ball! Long ball up the field to counter is not the answer. Gabby is far better when the ball is crossed into the area for him to nip in and finish off. He worked fantastic when he played with Carew and 2 wingers. Why can't Lambert see that his formation is not working. I can't understand why he doesn't give Helenius a start. It looks to me that we don't have any options up front. We are hoping to score, not creating to score. Let's hope Gabby keeps his attitude and doesn't get too disheartened. That guy is an absolute Legend. Pity the rest aren't like him.
  9. I have been a firm supporter of Paul Lambert since day one, but even I am concerned. Does he really know what he is doing? Does he have the players to do it with? Is he really as good as he thinks he is? Does the team believe in him? The next 2 games will answer some of my doubts. This Christmas period should have been a guaranteed 9 points. Palace result was an absolute disgrace. Nobody fears Aston Villa - they see us as a definite draw with a possible win on the cards. We are not a Team we are a bunch of individuals running around Villa Park. The person I feel really sorry for is Gabby - how
  10. The Villa Academy is one to be admired. Bringing the youngsters through is the only way of building unity in the team. Loan deals are probably the only thing that will happen in January. Randy Lerner is not going to spend big. He does not have endless cash. He is a businessman and wants a return on his expenditure. Sorry but that's the way it is. Let's hope for a New Years Wish of no injuries.
