  1. Agree with this, I think giving Whelan a rest and bringing fresh legs into the team was so important against Forest and it paid off. Would also like to see Green keep his place. I'd also consider giving Kodjia a start again if nothing else just to freshen it up.
  2. That's absolutely shocking, though we don't know the details and I don't think you could call it a Villa problem more a wider reflection of the huge knife culture and problem at the moment. Too many scumbags happy to use a knife. Watching the match last night I thought the atmosphere was electric and our fans were brilliant. I was over for a match against Wolves a couple of years ago and two Wolves supporters went by us with a stanley blade, thankfully we had no trouble with them but what possesses someone to bring a blade to a football match.
  3. Don't want to get carried away but we look really good at the moment. I had given up all hope of the play-offs but we were excellent tonight. All we can do is keep winning our own games and forget about what happens around us. Fair play to Smith, selection was spot on tonight with fresh legs brought in.
  4. I've seen @CornyAVFC with something similar!
  5. So much admiration for Grealish the way he handled the punch and the now standard crunch at the start. Refs need to be stronger when dealing with the obvious targeting of him, he will be seriously hurt again in one of those tackles. It's beyond a joke and becoming dangerous for him to play in this division. To score the wining goal and celebrate with our fans was just magic, one of the best moments as a Villa fan in a long long time. He will go all the way to the top, what a pro. Blues are just pure scum, they'll never beat us at this rate! Not a great performance but in the circumstances a huge win. It was good to see Hourihane get stuck into the fan when he came on and Mings was outstanding again. The team seemed together and I actually felt proud of them yesterday.
  6. Quite right Freddy. I really hate to bang on about Bruce but it still rankles me the state he left us in as an ex defender. It was reckless.
  7. I certainly hope so. As long as we're in this division I hope we never see any mega deals like MCormack again.
  8. It's easy to forget how dicey things were looking at one point in the Summer. I can't say I really understand them either but it's infuriating the amount of money we have wasted on complete crap.
  9. Feeling more confident after last week though I'd expect a much tighter game. I always worry about Grealish getting hacked to bits against this lot.
  10. Interesting insight thanks! At least Smith has shown some kind of willingness to include a few anyway and it's good that they're not just sitting around in the U23's. Seems to be close to a few like that, mind you he'd win just as much at Tottenham as he will here, sweet feck all😀
  11. Sounds like he has a great attitude and he seems to be doing well on loan. I found it very frustrating that Smith brought players like O'Hare onto the bench but never gave them a chance and instead we would see someone like Elmo trudge on. We have feck all to play for this season, we're not going up and we're not going down....well I doubt it anyway and we will never have had a better chance to blood some of these players but at least a lot of them have gone out on loan which is good.
  12. Very worrying to have no McGinn and whatever little confidence Hourihane might have had will be shot to pieces. Ideally Ramsay could be eased in more and more even if from the bench initially, nothing to lose from giving him some time. I really can't understand why Davis hasn't been given some time, brings something different to the team going forward. In one sense playing away from home even in a tough place like Stoke is probably the best thing for the team at the moment.
  13. Our fans can be right t*ts, booing Hourihane off really helpful. I've been critical of him lately but forums like this is the place for it not like that. How long before Ramsay himself will be booed if he does't immediately do well? Villa Park is poisonous.
  14. This should be the type of game the players are fired up for but nothing gets this lot motivated. Hard to see us winning this, even the only recent wins like Ipswich we were pretty s*it. He has to stop forcing the same system with one of the most lethal strikers in the league completely isolated and stop flogging the same few players week in week out. Adomah should be dropped and that doesn't mean bringing elmo in. Give youth a proper chance and stop with the token bench gestures.
  15. Got what we deserved tonight, utter pile of crap. Never showed up and never tried to win the game against a team lurking above the relegation zone. How that 3-3 didn't give us some momentum and have us raring to go tonight I don't know but absolutely typical with this team. Smith can't seem to work out any balance in his teams, it's either gung ho attacking 5-5 chaos or defensive gunk every bit as bad as we saw under Bruce.
