  2. Hi Ron, and welcome aboard, what you say is bang on, we commented only yesterday how much time Foden had time and time again during both halves, he was initially the cause of both goals and apparently was awarded MOM,,yes it happens every dam game--but who is to blame?? players?coaches? both??----but one thing for sure it needs addressing!!

  3. I've just seen Villa lose a cup final and I'm happy with the result, never thought I'd hear myself say that but I was dreading this game. Losing now is water off a ducks back, but to be humiliated in a cup final is something I never want to see again.

  5. Its my big worry but i read something today that made me realise that maybe I am being a little harsh. Its our first year back in the Premier League and if we average around 1 point a game, we should do enough to stay up. We have 22 points from 23 games so we are just below that at the moment. It would be nice to see us show the same fight and desire as the sides in and around us though.

  11. EPL (Premier League), Sunday 04/10/2020 : Aston Villa 7-2 Liverpool So much for the cautious draw ... maybe I should predict one every game ! I followed this game three-ways, Radio commentary, SSN Live Commentary and my Twitter feed. So for the record our goalscorers were Watkins (3), Grealish (2), McGinn and Barkley. An excellent result which could have seen even more goals. Now I hear commentators saying this result is a 'freak' ... the only thing possibly 'freakish' is the high scoreline, but this result is the sort of result we should expect from AVFC. Ours is no tinpot diddy team

  13. 24/09/2020 : Stu, I have noticed a display inconsistency with posts, it seems to be linked to the 'go to the first unread post' function. When I click on the unread post button it goes to the post, but the post is shown half-screen, left justified. If I go straight to a thread and open any post, read or unread, within the thread, then the display is full, i.e., across the whole page. Half-screen is the format used for posts shown in our activity, where they are right justified (and that is no problem there). Ha! - I have just been to my activity page and our posts are show

  14. There comes a point when you have to stand firm and try and progress as a club and keep your best players, delighted with the ambition shown by the club. We must make some progress this season and not got involved in any relegation battle, really excited for the season to kick off. Everything is here for us as a club to go on and progress

  15. Less than two years ago we were sat here discussing the possibility of bankruptcy, winding up orders and relegation to league 1 or worse. We all know the detail of what has happened in the months since, why we found ourselves promoted and barely able to field a team. The foundations are taking place for something that we can finally build a decent team on, no bomb squad, no ageing players that are no longer first choice drawing huge salaries, just a group of young players, rapidly assembled who will hopefully get better.

  17. Absolutely, Bruce was hammered for performances like that, not necessarily wrongly. We've been naive at times this season but now we are surrendering any kind of battle before we take to the pitch expecting to soak up pressure something which isn't playing to this teams strength.

  21. I don't think it will effect E-Sports. I think you will benefit from this as more people are stuck in their homes craving some kind of sport. As i said, if it doesn't take off during these current hard times, I don't see it ever taking off. Now is the time to jump in my opinion.

  22. Robbie, I think more and more people will still to rely on E-Sports during the current pandemic. Ultimately it will depend how much this effects the world to how effective this can be come moving forward. If it doesn't take off now, I can see it being forgotten about once normal sport resumes.

  23. The simple answer is sign the right manager.......that is central to any clubs success. and then sign the right players to meet that challenge, that means players who are familar with the " Dark Arts" too, not just champagne players. It really isn't that hard.....but its made hard if we follow the wrong path.

  25. Did anyone see that our recently published loses of over £60 million included a payment to Lerner of over £30 million ? the damage done by him and Xia cannot be fixed in one summer. We've been chasing our tails with short term plans of either trying to stay up or get straight back up for so long that a long term plan is exactly what we need. This team drives me crazy, I've criticised Smith but our biggest problem has been individual errors, largely by young players who will hopefully improve. Relegation was always a strong possibility and we all knew it. So while I fully underst

  28. This was criminal and how they failed to punish us for it I don't know, though Leicester were very poor themselves despite the scoreline. A struggling team like ours should never be using zonal marking, it seems a lose system based of it anyway as how could this pair up happen. A well drilled team who know what they're doing then perhaps zonal can work but not here, it's crazy. We should have gone back to basics a long time ago but our failure to adapt has cost us. Comparing us to everyone else around us I really can't see anything other then another embarrassing last place finish.

No one is learning and thats dam frightening! They want time and space thePremiership DONT GIVE THAT!!! look at Albrighton he destroyed us and is just the creative winger we are crying out for now!! Ndidi scared the hell out of our midfield and Barnes and Albrighton ran us ragged-- we are so dam poor!i can imagine Franky boy wringing his hands in anticipation of saturdays visit-i just hope Tammy dont play he will have a

  30. After watching that shower of shite at Leicester last night smith has lost the dressing room in my opinion. Even captain Jack looks like he’s signed for manure already and doesn’t want to spoil his future. p*ss poor tactics, no effort and time to go smith.

  31. Don't really know what to say Freddy, we are an absolute shambles. DS should have gone in January, (although I would have sacked him earlier) he is clearly out of his depth. We are doomed, we need fight and desire to get out of this mire, unfortunately these are two qualities this team lack.

  32. didnt you know? they are only allowed to play football on cup games, smithy needs to have something to brag about, he cannot brag about premier league football, he doesnt know how to play it,

  34. We have tinkered with the system and line up, none of it has worked and it is now clear that players gelling or acclimatising to this league isn't the issue. There is no way Smith hasn't considered two up top, it is the one thing he hasn't tried. I just hope he has the balls to give it a go because we are going down if he doesn't do something different.

  37. When you look at where this club was 18 months ago maybe we should cut everyone at the club some slack. If Smith finds himself out of work anytime soon the irony will be that long term he may have done better if he hadn't got us promoted. If he could have built a championship team without loan signings, come up and added 3 or 4 quality additions it would have been far easier than what we had to do. Needing to sign a dozen players good enough to compete and young enough to sell on so as not to harm our long term finances and all within FFP. We were all expecting a relegatio

  39. Brilliant post and one I full agree with. I called for the 5-3-2 system as I thought it would help prevent the goals but it hasn't. I am actually thinking a lot of the problems stem around the midfield area. It leaves the defence so exposed so much. The worrying thing is the amount of money we spent on the defence last summer and the amount of goals we have conceeded.

  42. It is interesting to look at other clubs fan forums and see so many using the same complaint, that their club is panic buying shite. It leaves me even more convinced that the transfer window isn't a good idea. This mad january trolley dash isn't working. It's like somebody already emptied the meat fridges and by the time you race the trolley there, all that is left is mince.

  43. Don't understand the logic in this deal, personally. Time will tell. There had to be better options out there than a player who cannot get into the Swansea team, surely.

  44. Samatta impressed me. On another day he would have scored a goal but he caused problems for Jonny Evans who is regarded as one of the best defenders in the league. I can't believe we are at Wembley and although im not confident, we have nothing to lose and everything is possible in a Cup final.

  45. Welcome to the forum Rocky. Fully agree with your post...I hate sacking managers, it does take time and I also have major doubts about Dean's suitability but really hope he proves us wrong.

  46. I am not totally sold on Dean as manager, nice guy, but maybe a bit affable for me.....but he needs more time, However, I think 4-3-3 with our squad has been naive, 3-4-3 looks a bit better. However, I am not in favour of changing managers too often either, some sort of momentum needs to build, relationships need to gel and stability cannot be under estimated....I do hope he makes it. New players coming in are bound to help, if we sign the right ones.....Pepe Reina was an inspired signing IMO....and fingers crossed on Samatta. I think we need a powerful midfielder too, to help g

  47. i see wesley did his favorite trick again, missed a sitter from 2 yards out, and i say again, elmanky was a waste of space, we need to spend again at the next window, and clear some of this lot out, for decent premiership players, what we have is fairly good championship players,
