The other way of looking at it is, yes we were sh*t today but west ham (a genuine mid-table team) could not beat us. We are nothing if we are not resilient .

what a game----all of em brill,---"Supa Jack" ran the show despite Ndoyes attempts to crock him, great atmosphere The Holte, in fact the whole stadium rocked-------Hogan worked his socks off, qualty shone through and won the day----2 cracking goals Jacks ball to Albert was sublime as was Hourihane,s chest down then volley------Villa wanted it more---great scenes on the second goal Hutton banging the badge on his shirt, and at final whistle possibly all 14 players involved applauding the crowd on the way to The Holte End----J.T. Jack Hutton Albert and Jack leading the celebrations-- well done Brucey,in what has been an awful week or two for you, well done You Villa Boyzzz-----another unruined weekend- will be soothing the throat with a wee dram or 3 of Jameson with 2/3 Guinness chasers, later tonight,. As far as I'm concerned survival is the goal again, not league position. I'm happy being patient while the rebuilding happens and I'm not going to pop an anti-depressant after a loss, I'm convinced that our resurgence is going to occur quickly and it'll be down to the right signings rather than the right amount. Lambert is the man for the job, and if Lerner is being legitimately portrayed in the statements released about him not selling then he could very well be the right owner.

It wasn't the first time I've watched Man Utd dick us and I know it won't be the last, but it's irrelevant who we played, we were abject, again. United didn't break a sweat yesterday and neither did Liverpool, Newcastle, Spurs or Everton... We are absolutely dire and I'd argue that we've played just as badly as that in games against City and Southampton that we won. We've also played that badly against West Ham and Sunderland and managed to hold out for a 0-0. It's absolutely pathetic. When have we genuinely given a good performance this season? Arguably Chelsea... Maybe Arsenal, but it's worth remembering that we had two penalties and a break away goal against ten men that day. Yes we've had tough home games, but we've also failed to beat West Ham, Hull, West Brom, Sunderland and Fulham - All teams that I have marked down as "three sides worse than us". We've relied on lucky wins to paper over the cracks and when that luck runs out we'll be in trouble. We have absolutely no idea going forward. Our ball retention is sh*t, we don't create anything or look threatening. Not just against United, but against everyone. The only reason we beat Cardiff was Bacuna's free kick. There are loads of players who should be dropped, but who do we replace them with? Our squad is crap. There's no quality in our side at all. The most disappointing thing about yesterday is that the performance was exactly the same as we've seen all season. Dull, blunt, flat. As soon as we go behind we've had it because we all know that we don't have it in us to create anything to get back into the game. If my car wasn't blocked in yesterday I'd have gone at half time. The football, not just yesterday, but all season, has been just as bad as anything served up under McLeish. Stoke, Palace and Swansea... Hopefully we can scrape a win there somewhere to give us some breathing space. If not it could be a long second half of the season. We must be playing some of the worst football in the division?

wolves have been getting above their station recently I feel, good to see them back in their box

a few lessons to be had---Jack lad this aint the Championship players are much sharper quicker and can disposess easily without fouling---you cannot linger on the ball in or close to our box-- Wesley needs to tuff up----collapses far far too easily---subs were ineffective Kodj caught dwelling too and Jota looked lost? but lets not forget Spurs were the 2nd best team in Europe last season-- 2 home games now and hopefully chance to get back to winning ways-- VTID--

Just been reminiscing, 37 years ago this very minute I'd have been an hour into the 60 hour session that was Rotterdam, we got back into Brum about the same time the final whistle will go on Monday....here's to another Villa victory though I could do without it being quite so nervy at the end. Have a great day all you that are going, if the semi is anything to go by me and my kids will be part of a large contingent of Villans lifting the roof off the George Tapps here in Bournemouth. UTV

i wondered how long it would take before some fans started to have a go at ds, ffs, this is not his team, he has not brought any players, he is still having to struggle with the crap he took over from the useless knunt sb left behind, give him a chance to do his own thing, then maybe you can judge him. you can train them, coach them, but you cant force them to do what you want them to do,, if you could there would no such thing as a good or a bad player. time will tell, but right now ds needs all the support from you that he can get.

What a beautiful game ! Grealish continues in good form, as do Adomah and Snoddy, Hutton, yes, played well again. Hourihane was a bit light-weight at times, but more than made it up with his superb goal. Hogan put on a good shift and was a bit unlucky couple of times. We were simply the better team today. Now, let´s keep the second place and to the Premier we´ll go ! Finally, I really hope, that we´ll sign Snodgrass permanently, he is quality. Period. Strong emotions for Bruce today, especially when Adomah scored our first. Was a bit moved too, I can admit... Good call to play Jedinak over Bjarnason, right choice for a game like this.

Right Dorset , first of all i respect your posts and always have done but i don't think we will agree on this. I think we have the biggest , best strongest and most expensive squad in this league , best because of what bruce inherited ( kodja , chester , adomah ,and grealish) , biggest because unlike other clubs in this league we have strength in depth and quality players we can call upon in all areas. . Strongest because bruce has been allowed to bring expensive quality players in on loan like john terry and sam johnstone , and most expensive because bruce spent twenty odd million on players last january , most of which now rarely feature in the first team. It is only now we are seeing the best of scott hogan since steve agnew arrived.... No one wants him sacked and no one wants us to play like Brazil , but what he have seen in 95% of the matches under steve bruce is the most boring negative football ever seen at Villa park in 144 years. . Now thats ok if we win 1-0 every week , but when we loose or draw the fans understandably get restless. Forget the stats of the last few managers ,,,,,,,,,,,we are now in the old division 2.not premier league. The 2 periods can't be compared. I personally am still backing bruce and have done for most of this season apart from when frustration and disappointments get the better of me , I think most villa fans are the same. But taking all things into consideration 4th in the league at the moment is certainly not a failure ,,,,,,,,it means we are under performing ,,,,,,,,,,,,we should be higher than that . Injuries or not , I dread to think how far we would be now behind wolves if Costa hadn't been injured , even when john terry was injured the only time we missed him was when the prat played jedinak at centre half and left elphick on the bench,, neither samba or elphick let us down during terrys absense in my opinion. Jack was a big miss but even before he got injured and even when he was fit bruce still had him on the bench or played him pointlessly on the wing . it is only the influence of steve agnew again that we are getting the benefit of jack played in his best position. Going on kodjas form this season he has been no loss at all , So to summarise the reason we are 4th is because steve bruce has held us back ,,,,,,,,we should be level if not above wolves ,,,,,,,,,,saying that , I am still confident we will get 2nd place and automatic promotion under him. then i hope we sack the c**t in the summer.

Nope. If he was bought in addition to a Defour or something like that it would be one thing, but it's clear to me that Lerner will only sanction one buy. With that being the case, I don't want him either.......but I will support him if signed. He's not the answer to our problems. He could be the backup to our answer though.

And does anyone really think that Paul Lambert has any say in the fee or terms offered to players? Of course not! The Manager identifies players and then PF and RL then conduct negotiations! Why don't we just blame Lambert for the world recession and the JFK shooting aswell!

I'd give up sacro, people with common sense understand your point, try and be satisfied with that.

Amazing news for Liverpool fans. Fair play to him too, kept himself to the back pages and has been amazing. It's good for the premier league to keep the worlds best players in England! Congratulations morerattled! Haha

First half is one that will live ling in the memory as one of the worst performances i have ever seen from a Villa Team, 2nd half we were all over em and deserved the win we could have got had Gabby not been off side! Lambert made errors in the first half but fair play he got it bang on in the 2nd period! lets face it, we did to them what they did to us last season! very happy with the point and on wards we go!

I felt the most inspired sub was the Delph one. Not that the other subs were ineffective. I just felt his involvement meant Westwood and El ahmadi could move forward to more advanced roles so much so that they both scored. Delph is easily our best midfielder, now all we need is another decent midfielder to accompany him, maybe even Bacuna.

Nice to see you back and you've not lost your aggressive manner either good to see. I'm quite happy for Lerner to stay, doesn't bother me in the slightest it's nice to see that we have some sort of plan now rather than just cutting and hoping. And yes we have progressed and that's actually a statistical fact

i dont hate small heath as a club, it is good to have local rivalries, its just their supporters are a bunch of :wank2: they are scummy bullying pricks, fuking jog bottoms fake tops and shitty pendents, living in south brum all the local pubs are full of them, what a bunch of useless twats. a wise old man told me something when i was young that just about sums it up, if you can afford to go watch football you'll go down the villa, if you cant afford it, end up on the dole and being one of the dregs of society you'll end up going down small heath. how true he was.

So who wrote that rule anyway?? You ask anyone who's involved in football and they'll say that the england managers job is the biggest in football and it'll remain that way probably till fergie retires and the utd will be fought over. And another reason why english aren't arrogant and americans are. Who takes a language uses it then changes how words are spelt then tries to tell the country who invented the language they are wrong. ;) LOL
