  2. Hi Ron, and welcome aboard, what you say is bang on, we commented only yesterday how much time Foden had time and time again during both halves, he was initially the cause of both goals and apparently was awarded MOM,,yes it happens every dam game--but who is to blame?? players?coaches? both??----but one thing for sure it needs addressing!!

  3. I've just seen Villa lose a cup final and I'm happy with the result, never thought I'd hear myself say that but I was dreading this game. Losing now is water off a ducks back, but to be humiliated in a cup final is something I never want to see again.

  5. Its my big worry but i read something today that made me realise that maybe I am being a little harsh. Its our first year back in the Premier League and if we average around 1 point a game, we should do enough to stay up. We have 22 points from 23 games so we are just below that at the moment. It would be nice to see us show the same fight and desire as the sides in and around us though.

  6. 22/09/2020 : Thanks for your efforts in getting the Site back up, Stu. As you can see from this post, I have finally been able to log back in (after all the earlier hassles).

  7. Time to keep things steady, no major changes. We have the spine of a good team and good character as demonstrated. 4 or 5 good signings in the right areas and I think we will be fine next season. Smith deserves full support next season and Suso leaving would appear to be a nod the recruitment wasn't quite up to scratch like the glaring deficiency we were left with upfront. I think the break showed we shouldn't write some of these players off. Luiz and Konsa were much improved and a player like Wesley may still prove a good player. Big problems were addressed over the break,

  9. I agree Dimitri and have created the thread for Season 2020-2021. As the 2020-2021 Season is getting underway it makes sense to open it now. All remaining games for Season 2019-2020 are to be posted in this 2019-2020 thread, Scottish FA Cup Semi-Finals and Final and Rangers' Euro matches (at least one, anyway !).

  10. Absolutely, Bruce was hammered for performances like that, not necessarily wrongly. We've been naive at times this season but now we are surrendering any kind of battle before we take to the pitch expecting to soak up pressure something which isn't playing to this teams strength.

  14. And Collymore. In a time when mental health is a big issue you would think people would think twice before jumping on someone's back. Yes he did wrong, admitted it and has been punished (with possible further punishment to follow) but to constantly make personal digs at a man who is probably living alone, who has had is world turned upside down probably isn't the best things to do. You would have thought after the Caroline Flack incident people would think first.

  15. I don't think it will effect E-Sports. I think you will benefit from this as more people are stuck in their homes craving some kind of sport. As i said, if it doesn't take off during these current hard times, I don't see it ever taking off. Now is the time to jump in my opinion.

  16. Yup, need the right manager in place. And no director of football.

  17. The simple answer is sign the right manager.......that is central to any clubs success. and then sign the right players to meet that challenge, that means players who are familar with the " Dark Arts" too, not just champagne players. It really isn't that hard.....but its made hard if we follow the wrong path.

  19. Did anyone see that our recently published loses of over £60 million included a payment to Lerner of over £30 million ? the damage done by him and Xia cannot be fixed in one summer. We've been chasing our tails with short term plans of either trying to stay up or get straight back up for so long that a long term plan is exactly what we need. This team drives me crazy, I've criticised Smith but our biggest problem has been individual errors, largely by young players who will hopefully improve. Relegation was always a strong possibility and we all knew it. So while I fully underst

  20. Defence issues 😒 I watch and wonder why we dont tighten up the opposition wingers. We give them far too much room and time to cross the ball into our six yard danger area. Our left and right back guys should be hot on their heels and prevent them from having time on the ball. This issue is the same every game ,which is why we are conceding too many goals. I can see it ,why cant our coaching staff see it and address this big issue before it's too late. I do hope the coaching staff read these comments. This is my very first post on this forum.

  22. This was criminal and how they failed to punish us for it I don't know, though Leicester were very poor themselves despite the scoreline. A struggling team like ours should never be using zonal marking, it seems a lose system based of it anyway as how could this pair up happen. A well drilled team who know what they're doing then perhaps zonal can work but not here, it's crazy. We should have gone back to basics a long time ago but our failure to adapt has cost us. Comparing us to everyone else around us I really can't see anything other then another embarrassing last place finish.

  23. Blimey it must have been real bad in the flesh then man! Do they want to go down?it sure looks that way!cos this motley bunch sure wont bring us back up!! No one is learning and thats dam frightening! They want time and space thePremiership DONT GIVE THAT!!! look at Albrighton he destroyed us and is just the creative winger we are crying out for now!! Ndidi scared the hell out of our midfield and Barnes and Albrighton ran us ragged-- we are so dam poor!i can imagine Franky boy wringing his hands in anticipation of saturdays visit-i just hope Tammy dont play he will have a

  24. After watching that shower of shite at Leicester last night smith has lost the dressing room in my opinion. Even captain Jack looks like he’s signed for manure already and doesn’t want to spoil his future. p*ss poor tactics, no effort and time to go smith.

  25. Don't really know what to say Freddy, we are an absolute shambles. DS should have gone in January, (although I would have sacked him earlier) he is clearly out of his depth. We are doomed, we need fight and desire to get out of this mire, unfortunately these are two qualities this team lack.

  26. didnt you know? they are only allowed to play football on cup games, smithy needs to have something to brag about, he cannot brag about premier league football, he doesnt know how to play it,

  28. We have tinkered with the system and line up, none of it has worked and it is now clear that players gelling or acclimatising to this league isn't the issue. There is no way Smith hasn't considered two up top, it is the one thing he hasn't tried. I just hope he has the balls to give it a go because we are going down if he doesn't do something different.

  30. A spirited performance where I feel the players did exactly as I wanted. They gave their all and would have come off the pitch with no regrets. The officials couldn't say the same sadly. I was very proud of our performance yesterday and I clapped everyone of them when they went up to collect their runners up medal

  33. When you look at where this club was 18 months ago maybe we should cut everyone at the club some slack. If Smith finds himself out of work anytime soon the irony will be that long term he may have done better if he hadn't got us promoted. If he could have built a championship team without loan signings, come up and added 3 or 4 quality additions it would have been far easier than what we had to do. Needing to sign a dozen players good enough to compete and young enough to sell on so as not to harm our long term finances and all within FFP. We were all expecting a relegatio

  34. w,,,A Good post, especially the point about Chris Wilder just look at the physicality in Sheffield,s midfield -case in point about ours not stopping opponents is Drinkwater how many times does he end up forlornly chasing back? It's not just him though Conor and Lansbury are the same! The championship is so so much different to the promised land of the premiership and what's acceptable in the former just simply aint good enough for the premiership --the summer recruitment policy was wrong ,whosever responsibility it was, dominating physical midfielders should have been tracked down

  35. We continue to talk about creativity, when appraising players.....Its as if, its all we ever notice. We have scored more goals than 11 teams in this league this year, more than enough to be in safety, we have scored 6 more than Sheff Utd, despite the 14 point deficit. We scored 2 goals on Sunday, Enough to win a game....with a good performance attached. We have conceded 50 goals so far and the problem is innate.....its a team problem.....We simply cannot stop the opposition, any team, we rely only on last ditch tackles, which become a lottery, in the end, its all too late when i

  43. I am not totally sold on Dean as manager, nice guy, but maybe a bit affable for me.....but he needs more time, However, I think 4-3-3 with our squad has been naive, 3-4-3 looks a bit better. However, I am not in favour of changing managers too often either, some sort of momentum needs to build, relationships need to gel and stability cannot be under estimated....I do hope he makes it. New players coming in are bound to help, if we sign the right ones.....Pepe Reina was an inspired signing IMO....and fingers crossed on Samatta. I think we need a powerful midfielder too, to help g

  47. I personally don't get the hype in some players. I am not the biggest fan of the likes of French and Spanish leagues. So many players have come to England or even Germany and have failed to be successful but smash it in those leagues. Its partly why Ronaldo will always be above Messi for me.

  48. The simple way to define historic would be trophies won but if you look at how the premier league has made winning trophies almost a certainty for some for much of its 26 years I'm not convinced that can be the only measure. I don't deny my bias but if you go back to 1993 I think only Liverpool had won more than Aston Villa and although a few rich clubs have surpassed us during the era of money being king none of them were founder members of the football league, which is why Accrington Stanley and Notts County are historic clubs and Birmingham City are not. I doubt I need remind anyo
