  2. Class Not a Villa fan, but witnessed the applause given to my team after we secured the Championship title last weekend at Villa Park. Villa has classy fans and they're missed in the PL. Best of luck in the play-offs, I think most Norwich fans will be quietly backing you.

  3. So where do I even begin? This trip ended up being the best excursion across the pond to date! Even though the football was absolute shite..... Crystal Palace v Aston VIlla Momma Peev and I landed the night before into Heathrow and spent the night by the airport. Up bright and early to head to Banstead and the Woolpack pub to meet up with Loyal, B6, Alan and the rest of the Addies coach and Kiddie Lions Coach. Was a bit annoyed as the tube made us miss our initial train to Victoria but it gave us a chance to grab some breakfast in thee station. Large full English and a pint o Guinn

  4. overall i'm still fairly posotive after last nights game. we played well at times. I don't think you can overemphasize the importance of Benteke scoring, and where it could lead him to for the rest of the season. I don't agree with all of the negativity around signing Holt. He is backup. If Benteke goes on a roll and stays fit, he will purely be a backup player. 2 seasons ago he scored a balls load of goals for norwich in the Prem. the next year he still scored 8 goals in the Prem. He is someone to spring from the bench, and he is on loan, so didn't cost us a fortune. If he chips in with 4 or

  6. It's borderline embarrasing for a mod to create a topic like this when the season isnt even over, yet he then wants to ridicule ak for having an opinion over Gabby.

  7. I watch practically every single match, or is it only people who get to go to VP? Notice I say "get to" too.. I don't think there's a single person who posts regular on here who wouldn't be an ST holder if it was at all possible.. That's why we're here!

  8. I had TalkSport on the radio on the way home... They claimed that the shock of the day took place at Villa Park... I felt confused, as I didn't remember seeing us win...

  10. The other way of looking at it is, yes we were sh*t today but west ham (a genuine mid-table team) could not beat us. We are nothing if we are not resilient .

  11. Hi Ron, and welcome aboard, what you say is bang on, we commented only yesterday how much time Foden had time and time again during both halves, he was initially the cause of both goals and apparently was awarded MOM,,yes it happens every dam game--but who is to blame?? players?coaches? both??----but one thing for sure it needs addressing!!

  12. I've just seen Villa lose a cup final and I'm happy with the result, never thought I'd hear myself say that but I was dreading this game. Losing now is water off a ducks back, but to be humiliated in a cup final is something I never want to see again.

  14. Its my big worry but i read something today that made me realise that maybe I am being a little harsh. Its our first year back in the Premier League and if we average around 1 point a game, we should do enough to stay up. We have 22 points from 23 games so we are just below that at the moment. It would be nice to see us show the same fight and desire as the sides in and around us though.

  17. Sad and not surprised at some of the reactions. Seeing utter nonsense like polls for Smith in or out, "is the job actually too much for him?", , "what is JT doing?", "he needs to turn it round quick", "dont know about 'smith out', cos who can we get?" Like it should actually be f*cking discussed, as well as other crap. First bad spell and our fans are having a breakdown.

  18. Was generally gutted when I heard the news. I know everyone always has their stories about people like Doug. From my time supporting Villa it was clear he loved the club and at the time seemed like he took the club as far as he could in the time. His desire to be there each and every week shows you everything you need to know about the man. Away from football, he helped so many charities, especially children charities in Birmingham. Something silly to some and a nothing story really but I will always remember going to a summer football camp and waiting for a bus. He drove past us an

  21. changing him wont make a difference??? im sorry but it is both the players and the managers responsibility for poor results. I know lerner doesnt help lambert, but a good manager will still get decent results. Prime example, Tony Pulis. Palace looked doomed before Tony came in, now look at them - he's transformed them - they are solid defensively, and can still manage to score goals. Palace still have the same owner, but changed the manager, and they are a completely different team. If lerner appoints a new manager, just because we have lerner as an owner, it doesnt mean results ON

  22. absolutely Freddy, if they can't be up for this then they all need blooming dropping. Massively important game for our season, and not just in points. AVFC need to show the fans they are serious about survival and know how unhappy we are.
    2 points
  23. As far as I'm concerned survival is the goal again, not league position. I'm happy being patient while the rebuilding happens and I'm not going to pop an anti-depressant after a loss, I'm convinced that our resurgence is going to occur quickly and it'll be down to the right signings rather than the right amount. Lambert is the man for the job, and if Lerner is being legitimately portrayed in the statements released about him not selling then he could very well be the right owner.

  25. ^^^^ This ^^^^ I've tried to avoid dipping into the thread as it can easily be interpreted as racist to suggest that the country is full. Trouble is it is full…and breaking down. No matter what our politicians tell us the NHS is on its knees, held together by the lower tiers of nurses and junior doctors who work themselves to the bone. Our country’s infrastructure is knackered and needs major multi billion pound investment. Our social standards shock us all, regardless if we consider ourselves working class, white collar or rich. The depravity & laziness of some make my

  26. My God, really wish I'd come straight home and not bothered with the stopover to watch that shite. Albrighton was the only one with any life about him today really, apart from maybe Helenius. Lambert's words will come back to haunt him now and cannot believe he said he couldn't fault the lads' "attitude and endeavour" after that display. He's taking the p*ss now.

  28. It wasn't the first time I've watched Man Utd dick us and I know it won't be the last, but it's irrelevant who we played, we were abject, again. United didn't break a sweat yesterday and neither did Liverpool, Newcastle, Spurs or Everton... We are absolutely dire and I'd argue that we've played just as badly as that in games against City and Southampton that we won. We've also played that badly against West Ham and Sunderland and managed to hold out for a 0-0. It's absolutely pathetic. When have we genuinely given a good performance this season? Arguably Chelsea... Maybe Arsenal, but it's

  30. Not talking about on here but do some villa fans just not have the ability to look at the bigger picture?? On Facebook so many people blasting tonev, IMO he's Very rough around the edges but there is something there and to write him off now would be stupid. Someone said baker should give up playing football and Clark should get ready for a career at Bolton. Same person said that Westwood is useless lol. The first half was a poor showing, a very poor showing but do you know what it reminded me of? Last season! And there's a reason for that, last season we had an inexperienced young sq

  31. A point that needs to be taken into consideration, was it not 26 odd games without a clean sheet?? we have now had 3 in 6 games. improvement. The performance was shite but with 4 first team players out injured we did what we needed to do. I i have asked is for improvement and 7 points up on the same fixtures played last season has to be a positive point!!

  37. I forgot to mention! After reading this post this afternoon I was in the garden and heard chickens in my neigbours garden. I pooped my head over the fence to see 6 chickens happily clucking around the yard. I was about to call my daughter to see the chickens when my neighbours Wife emerged from the back door, she promptly grabbed the nearest Chicken and hung him on the fence, then another and and another! She then grabbed a very sharp knife and slit their throats!! I tell you, I was barely able to enjoy my chicken nuggets at dinner! ;)

  38. Less than two years ago we were sat here discussing the possibility of bankruptcy, winding up orders and relegation to league 1 or worse. We all know the detail of what has happened in the months since, why we found ourselves promoted and barely able to field a team. The foundations are taking place for something that we can finally build a decent team on, no bomb squad, no ageing players that are no longer first choice drawing huge salaries, just a group of young players, rapidly assembled who will hopefully get better.

  39. We have tinkered with the system and line up, none of it has worked and it is now clear that players gelling or acclimatising to this league isn't the issue. There is no way Smith hasn't considered two up top, it is the one thing he hasn't tried. I just hope he has the balls to give it a go because we are going down if he doesn't do something different.
